Longhorn Football Enters Bye Week
The Cedar Hill High School Football Team (1-4, 0-2) enters a much-needed bye week after playing one of the toughest schedules in Texas.
The first six teams on the Longhorns' schedule entered the game undefeated, including Mansfield, whom they host on October 6.
Cedar Hill lost to Duncanville, the top-ranked team in Texas and seventh nationally, last Friday. Edwin Rhoden had six carries for 19 yards and Kymeion Turner caught a 14-yard pass against the defending 6A, Division I State Champions.

Cedar Hill Volleyball Tied for First Place in District 6A-11
The Cedar Hill High School Volleyball Team will look to win its first match against DeSoto in five years.
Then, they'll round out the first half of District 6A-11 Competition when they host Mansfield Legacy.
The Lady Longhorns (23-6, 4-1) have swept three consecutive matches. They're currently tied for first place in 6A-11 with perennial powers Mansfield and Waxahachie, respectively.
Cedar Hill defeated Duncanville last Friday, earning their fourth consecutive victory over DHS.
Earlier in the week, they defeated Dallas Skyline.

Cedar Hill Football Alumni Update
- Kaidon Salter scored four touchdowns in Liberty’s 38-6 win at Florida International. He passed for 156 yards and two touchdowns and also had nine carries for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Teammate Amarian Williams had two tackles in the victory. The Flames (4-0) have a bye week before hosting Sam Houston on October 5.
- Kamdyn Benjamin caught a career-high four passes for 53 yards in a 22-14 win at Northern Illinois. He was the leading receiver in the game. It was his second consecutive game of more than 50 yards receiving. The Golden Hurricane (2-2) will host Temple on Thursday.
- Zakhari Franklin had a catch for 16 years in Mississippi’s 24-10 loss at Alabama. Mississippi (3-1) will host LSU on Saturday.
- Jadon Cardell of Sam Houston, a Collegiate High School Graduate, had eight punts for 304 yards in a 38-7 loss at Houston. Sam Houston (0-3) will play Jacksonville State in its home opener on Thursday.
- Courtland Ford and Kentucky (4-0) defeated Vanderbilt, 45-28, in its Southeastern Conference opener. They’ll host Florida on Saturday.
- Jaheim Lowe had five tackles and a half-sack and Leon Young had four tackles and a sack in A&M Commerce’s 10-9 loss at Old Dominion. The Lions (0-3) will visit Stephen F. Austin on Saturday.
- Syncere Massey finished with four tackles in Abilene Christian’s 52-17 loss at Central Arkansas. ACU (2-2) will visit North Texas on Saturday.
Green Leads TCU in Loss to K-State
- TCU Graduate Student Brianna Green, a Collegiate High School Graduate, had 10 kills and two digs in a 3-2 loss to Kansas State last weekend. The Horned Frogs (8-5, 1-1) will host Texas Tech on Thursday.
Turner Finishes Fifth at Prowl In the Park Meet
Cedar Hill High School senior Bruce Turner placed fifth out of 66 runners at the Prowl In The Park Race last Friday at Dutch Branch Park in Benbrook, near Fort Worth, with a time of 17:10.17.
Teammates Kingston Jackson (18:16.78) and Leonardo Ortega (18:41.45) finished 17th and 23rd, respectively.
On the girls side, Chloe Wallace finished 27th out of 54 runners in 24:25.13.
The team will compete at the Ken Gaston Invitational on Friday - its final meet before the District 6A-11 Championship Meet.

Cedar Hill Tennis Defeats DeSoto, 10-9
The match started on September 19 but was postponed until September 21. The Longhorns will travel to Mansfield Legacy on Tuesday.
Cuellar Becomes Cedar Hill Baseball Junior Varsity Coach
Longtime Cedar Hill citizen Joe Cuellar, who worked in retail management for nearly four decades, is the new Cedar Hill High School Junior Varsity Baseball Coach. He teaches Business at CHHS.
Cuellar played baseball at Howard College in Big Spring and University of the Incarnate Word in his hometown of San Antonio.
