TRAINING AND CONSULTATION...
On March 13th, 2024, the Training and Consultation staff along with the Educational Programs and Services team met as part of their monthly collaborative efforts. Monthly meetings were scheduled at the beginning of the school year and a running agenda is kept in Google for both teams to add topics for monthly review and discussions. The teams have been able to discuss ways to collaborate and integrate department initiatives. During this meeting, the teams had the opportunity to discuss some great topics including BrainSteps Initiative development and outreach, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Academics, Behavior, & Social Emotional connections. They discussed next steps in communication and collaboration of Literacy and Math efforts along with SEL within the MTSS framework with a focus on data and opportunities to bridge connections for our LEAs. More to come on these great collaborative efforts. Teamwork at its best!

MARCH...
International Women's Day...
International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8, has its roots in the early 20th century when the fight for women's rights gained momentum. The first "National Woman's Day" was observed in the United States on February 28,1909, organized by the Socialist Party of America to demand better working conditions and suffrage for women. The day has grown into a global movement with people around the world commemorating the achievements and struggles of women and advocating for gender equality.
St. Patrick's Day...
St. Patrick's Day celebrates the life of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It always falls on the 17th of March. The first St. Patrick's Day parade took place in America. The New York City St. Patrick's Day parade is the world's oldest civilian parade and the largest in the United States. Chicago began its annual tradition of turning the Chicago River green on St. Patrick's Day in 1962. St. Patrick is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland.
Share a Smile Day...
Share a smile day is observed annually on March 1 since 1997. It's origins are widely unknown, but it is an amazing day with a great cause, and all you need to do to be a part of it is smile. Smiling leads you to feel relaxed and happy. This in turn can reduce your blood pressure and stress levels, increase your endurance, and even strengthen your immune system. Smile today, or be the reason someone else smiles!
A NOTE FROM DR. SOTTILE...
Happy Easter and Happy Passover to all who observe.
I hope you all enjoy much deserved time and memories with family and friends.
