Character Trait of the Month
Our Character Strong trait for April is COURAGE. Check out what each grade level is working on!
A Message from the Principal
Hello Hoover Families,
Wow! Best weather weekend we've had so far this spring. I hope you were able to get outside to enjoy it. With the warm weather here, many families are planning activities that may involve students leaving early or being absent. Here are a few reminders to keep in mind:
- All guests to Hoover must have an ID and be scanned in before entering the building.
- Parents/Guardians picking up students during the school day will be asked for ID and to wait in the vestibule until the student meets them there.
- 3:30 p.m. is the cut-off for students to be picked up/dismissed from school by a parent/guardian. Please plan accordingly to communicate with the teacher or the main office about this change before 3:30.
- Absence Reporting - Please call our Attendance Line at 763.506.2806 to report any absences that your child(ren) will be out of school every day.
Reading MCA testing starts for our students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade this week. Our students have been working hard all year to learn and they are ready to show off their knowledge! Please continue to encourage them to take their time and do their best. It's always important to get a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast for testing days, and we appreciate your support with this as well. Please refrain from scheduling appointments during this time for students so they can be in school to take the assessments. Thank you for your support!

Parent Educator and VSC Updates
Parent Educator, Nichol Michaels - April Parent Press - Risk Taking and Safety Development in Children
- With warmer weather, kids want to spend more time outside. Whether your child is wanting to ride their bike, go on walks or play with friends, it is important to remind them about safety rules. It is also important as a caregiver to scaffold how to take calculated and informed risks. This includes trying the monkey bars on the playground, looking both ways when crossing the street or learning a new skill that scares them. Here are some strategies and ideas to support your child's risk taking and safety development.
Volunteer Service Coordinator, Tina Fletcher - April VSC Newsletter
- So much is happening here at Hoover as we enter into our final couple months of the school year! Hoover is in full swing for events, and we would love to have more families volunteer to help make these events and activities run smoothly!
In order to volunteer, all volunteers need to fill out a volunteer application form and a background check. Once you complete these, see the below events to sign up to help our school.
- Did you know you don't have to be an adult to volunteer? Yes, some volunteer opportunities require you to be an adult to volunteer for our school. But we do have several ways to volunteer for those who are 12 to 17 years old. Come volunteer as a family for big events like the Spring Carnival.
- Some other ways for teens to volunteer include:
- Workroom- copying, cutting, sorting, etc.
- PTO Childcare
- Spring Carnival
- Movie Nights
- Bingo Nights
- Reading Night, Math Night, and other school led events
- Current High Priority Volunteer Opportunities
