Dear Hillcrest Elementary School Families,

I hope this finds you well and enjoying a wonderful summer break with your family and friends. As we eagerly anticipate the start of the new school year, I wanted to take a moment to inform you on some important information.

Our office staff is now back in the building and available to assist you Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Should you have any questions or concerns as we prepare for the upcoming school year, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at 309-755-7621. We are here to support you in any way we can.

We cannot wait to welcome our Hornets back into the school building and kick off an exciting new school year together! Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education.

Classlists will be uploaded in Skyward by August 2nd. Please check your Skyward app. to look for this information. There will also be a text message sent out letting you know that students who have registered by July 29th are rostered.

In-Person Registration

• If you need assistance registering your child(ren) for school, please come to Hillcrest on July 29th from 11am-7pm. We will be here to assist you. Bring with you two proofs of residency (see the approved list below).

Backpack Night

• August 5 from 5-6pm
• Bring your school supplies to school and meet your teacher!

First Day of School

• August 7th
• Breakfast is served from 8:00-8:20am. The bell for students to go to their classrooms rings at 8:20am. The tardy bell rings at 8:30am.
• There is a one hour early dismissal at 2pm on the first day of school only!

August 8, 9, ...

• From these days on forward (unless noted on the district calendar) school will be dismissed at regular time (2:50pm).

• All staff members will be in locations to direct families on where to go the first three days of school.
• Parents will be allowed on the playground the first day of school. Parents may not enter the school for breakfast on any given day.
• Dismissal is at 2:00pm - 1 hour early
• Parents will not be permitted into the building. We ask all parents to say their good byes on the playground before students enter the school.

• Your student may not be dropped off before 8am each day.
• Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade students will be on the lower playground. Our 3rd and 4th grade students will be assigned to the upper playground.
• There is no student entrance through the front doors of the school unless there are certain circumstances for your child. Students will enter the school for the day at the cafeteria door, and then they will be directed from there.
• After the first day of school, parents will not be permitted on the playground. We ask that you drop your student off outside the fence and allow them to go to breakfast and/or recess.
• Safety of our students is #1. It is expected that you follow the guidance of the crossing guard at all times. SLOW DOWN and do not be in a hurry.
• If a school bus has their stop sign out, it is a state law that you must stop.
• Car riders and walkers will be dismissed through the front entrance of the school. We dismiss one grade level at a time, beginning with kindergarten.
• Students need to be picked up by 3:10pm daily. If your student is not picked up by this time, they will be brought into the building.
