MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Franklin Students and Families,
We are about to enter into the fifth week of school. Time is flying by! Teachers are completing mid-term progress reports this week. Now is a good time to check in with your students about their grades and how they are progressing in each class. Be sure to upload the ParentVue app so that you can stay informed of your students progress and grade reports.
Thank you for joining us at Back to School Night on Wednesday. We enjoyed having you all in the building and I invite you to come back as often as you'd like. If you did not have a chance to attend please check out the upcoming events below. We hope to see you there! Many of our students participated in the Club Fair yesterday after school. They visited with several student club booths and signed up to attend meetings. Ask your student which club they plan to join. Thank you for supporting your students and Franklin!
Happy Fall!

SCHOOL NEWS
NEW: Upcoming Lockdown Drill
There will be a required lockdown drill scheduled to take place at approximately 11:00am on Wednesday, September 25th.
Because Franklin administration understands these drills can bring up fear, sadness, and anxiety in our students and staff, we have tried to create a trauma-informed approach to conducting these drills. We have asked staff to help prepare themselves and our students by going over these procedures: Lockdown Drill-Prepping Students 9/23 & 9/24.
After reviewing this protocol and preparation, students are encouraged to ask questions and process feelings. As always, feel free to reach out to VP Robyn Griffiths directly should you have any questions, concerns, or feedback.
NEW: Lightning Pep Band Performance
The Lightning Pep Band will be performing and cheering during the Franklin vs. Jefferson game this Friday, September 20th starting at 7:00pm. Please come out and join the Lightning Band as we support our team!

PTSA NEWS
NEW: Educator Spotlight
Your PTSA is proud to be kicking off one of our favorite traditions: Educator Spotlight. Now that school has been in session for about a month, we would love your nominations for any person in the Franklin building who is excelling at their job and making a positive difference in the the lives of those around them.
Prior to each of our general meetings, we will randomly choose two educators to spotlight, and invite them to join us and tell us a bit about themselves. It is always the highlight of each meeting, and helps to remind us of all the hard work that's being done inside the building every day. We would love to hear from you!
Pastini Fundraiser Day
Mark your calendars for our first restaurant partnership of the year on Thursday, October 3rd. Pastini will donate 40% of all sales from 11:00am-8:30pm to the Franklin PTSA. This includes dine-in and takeout (call-in only) and please remember you must mention Franklin High School when you order!
2024-2025 PTSA Sponsors
The PTSA is thrilled to announce our first two sponsors of the year, each local businesses with standing ties to the community:
PTSA Grant Increase
Thanks to the generosity of the Franklin community, the PTSA was able to increase this year’s planned $10,000 in grants to $15,000! Please email presfhsptsa@gmail.com if you or your company would like to become a sponsor. Personal donations are gladly accepted through SchoolPay or by check in the main office, and are used to help fill in the funding gaps for all Franklin teachers and students.
Getting Involved at Franklin
- Volunteer!: The Franklin PTSA is the primary source of volunteers for Franklin. If you are interested in helping out at the school, filling out this form is a great place to start. It will give our volunteer coordinators an idea of your interests and abilities, and it will add you to our database so you are kept informed about upcoming volunteer opportunities. You do not need to be a PTSA member to volunteer (but you should join if you haven't already!). You can also sign up to receive updates and volunteer requests. All PPS volunteers need to have a current background check on file, and to read through the district requirements.
- Become a Member!: You can become a member and support the PTSA on SchoolPay (click the link and scroll down to PTSA or search "PTSA" in the search bar) or on Oregon PTA's website (click the link and then scroll to Franklin High School PTSA).
- Bottledrop!: Turn your Bottledrop rewards into Franklin High School PTSA grant dollars, staff appreciation, affinity club support, library support, and so much more. There are two ways to participate (both of which are completely FREE to you!): you can pick up a PTSA blue bag from the main office or donate your accumulated funds online.
- Fred Meyer Rewards!: Link your Fred Meyer Rewards card to Franklin High School PTSA, and we will receive a small percentage of your purchase amount each quarter, at no cost to you! Each year the PTSA earns about $2500 from this amazing fundraiser, but less than 100 FHS families participate. Imagine how much help we could provide the school if more families signed up and linked their card to the PTSA.
- Become a Sponsor!: If you own a business and would like to be added to our list of sponsors, please email presfhsptsa@gmail.com.
ATHLETICS
NEW: Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed in concessions and for tickets sales all fall. Please consider signing up for a shift or two and get volunteer credit for your favorite team!
