Dear Neihardt Families,

We are looking forward to parent-teacher conferences coming up on March 10th, 11th and 17th. Call the office if you need assistance. Also note, there will be no school on March 13th - 17th.

The Neihardt staff will soon begin the process of designing class lists for the 2025-26 school year. Our main goal is to provide positive experiences for all students. We strive to create balanced classrooms with regards to personalities, abilities, needs, learning styles, peer relations, and gender balance. Staff work to place students in a learning environment that would best meet their individual needs. Each child is considered individually by members of the following teams: Teachers who currently work within the grade-level, HAL, Special Education, Speech Language Pathologist, Administration, Interventionists, and the School Counselor.

We recognize that you value your child's education and can offer valuable insight about them. If you would like to have input into your child’s placement for next year, please schedule an appointment with me. During this meeting, I will ask for you to share input about your child’s learning style, strengths, and areas of needed improvement. This input will be considered when Neihardt teams make placement decisions. Requests for a specific teacher will not be considered. To make an appointment please email me at trcooper@mpsomaha.org or call 402-715-8360 prior to April 4th. Input will not be considered in the process after April 4th as we begin making placement decisions at that time.

This week in morning meeting, we talked about little problems vs. big problems. We focused on identifying the size of problems and how we might feel when we have these different problems in our lives. Next week, we will be learning about calming strategies we can use when we are having a big reaction to a problem.

Thank you to Mr. Burkhardt, father of Jax and Brezlyn, Mr. Dennis, father Mehki, and Mr. Simmonds, father of Dexter who volunteered as our Watch D.O.G.S. this week. They spent their time in classrooms, PE, music class, eating lunch with their students and recess. We appreciate them coming in and volunteering.

We are excited to announce that Chase West was selected as one of the contestants in the Future Chef Culinary Challenge. He will now compete on March 20th at Millard West.

If you have an incoming kindergartener or new student entering Millard Public Schools for the 2025-26 school year, please enroll your student beginning February 1, 2025 at www.mpsomaha.org. By completing your child's enrollment as soon as possible you help us place students sooner and communicate with your family in a timely way.

Existing student updates will occur between June 9 and July 31, 2025.
