Tiger Tale
December 9, 2024
Welcome to Trimester Two!
Dear Dewey Families:
As we transition into the second trimester, we are excited to embrace a fresh start filled with new opportunities for growth and learning. This is a perfect time for students to set academic goals, refocus their efforts, and continue building on the progress they’ve made so far.
With the holiday season upon us, it’s easy to get swept up in the excitement and festivities. However, maintaining consistent routines and staying focused on academics will help ensure a successful end to the calendar year. Encouraging regular reading, completing homework, and staying engaged in class are simple ways to keep your child on track.
Our teachers are here to support students every step of the way. If you feel your child would benefit from additional resources or strategies, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s work together to make this trimester a meaningful and productive one for all!
Thank you for your partnership and support.
Warmest regards
Sabrina Parsley, principal

Nominations now open for 2025 Classified Employee of the Year
San Juan Unified realizes that there are many outstanding employees in service within the district. To recognize classified employees, the district is accepting nominations for the Classified Employees of the Year.
If you know a classified employee who goes above and beyond for San Juan Unified and the surrounding community, you may nominate the employee for consideration. Any San Juan Unified employee or member of the surrounding community may submit a nomination. Access the 2025 Classified of the Year Nomination Form for information about the eligibility requirements, nomination process and more.
All nomination forms must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20.
The outstanding employees in each category will be announced at the board meeting on Feb. 11. Finalists will be entered into the Sacramento County Classified Employee of the Year program.

As you are traveling this holiday season, please keep in mind that Dewey collects all small toiletries that you may receive at your hotels (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shower caps, soap, toothpaste, sewing kits, etc.). Another great place to pick up some extra toiletries is your dental office. The free toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss they offer you are great items to donate as well. Please drop off your donations in the office hallway or to Mrs. Ruswinkle in room 9. All items donated will be sent to Mercy Pedalers organization (mercypedalers.com).
Thank you! Mrs. Ruswinkle
