Here's the code, Green Leafs! Get to badging!
Do good, go green, earn badges, earn green.
Hi all,
Hope you're all having a great week!
Help me in congratulating Hinkley High School and AWCPA in being the first schools to badge their students for Green Star activities! Congrats to Jazmine Martinez from Hinkley's Green Echoes Club and Pedro Reynaldo from AWCPA's CHOICES Club!
Are you badging your students? Find out more about the process at badges.aurorak12.org
In order to earn cash incentives moving forward, your club members will need to earn badges to demonstrate student engagement.
It's easy.
Here's the process:
1. Students select an activity or reflect on a past activity and how it's defined by the "Journey" Badges. The Journey Badges exemplify 21st Century Credentials and allow students to earn badges to unlock one or all of the Five Summit Badges:
Invention
Critical Thinking
Collaboration
Self-Direction
Information Literacy
2. Students complete activities that support their school in the Green Star Schools Program (i.e. participate and/or hold office in the club= uploading evidence to demonstrate the "Organization" Journey Badge categorized under "Collaboration")
3. Students upload evidence into credly.com (photos, reports, videos, links to websites, social media posts, etc.) using Claim Codes from the Green Stars Playbook to earn designated badges.
Here is a link to the Playbook as well:
4. An email will be sent to the student with confirmation of earned badge!
Please be sure to have your students login in to their aurorak12.org email account to access the full Green Stars Playbook with Claim Codes for uploading evidence.
Questions? Feel free to email Julie at jenorth@aps.k12.co.us
Also, it is not too late for your school to participate in the Green Star Schools Program & Energy Challenge Competition for this semester. If you’d like to schedule a time to meet with me to learn more about the Green Star Schools Program and/or if you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
As always, Friday is around the corner, so please get the word out to your fellow teachers and staff to unplug appliances and electronics and to turn off any lights and unnecessary equipment.
Here's to going green!
