Coach Kassell Needs You!
We know what you’re thinking, "Uuuhhhh, what is the next big holiday I HAVE to prepare for?" Well, it is Valentine's Day. Don't worry, Lago Vista Powerlifting has you covered. We have a fun filled and free evening of events set up just for you.
LVHS is hosting our annual Lago Vista Powerlifting Invitational. We need you, and you, and you, to be table workers for this event.
If your idea of a nice relaxing evening by the fire is actually an evening of watching athletes lift heavy weights, you're in luck.
Come join us on February 14th from the end of school- 10ish pm in the LVHS Main Gym. We would greatly appreciate your help and really, how can you turn down Coach Kassell when he needs you! Thank you in advance.

english 1 and 2 benchmark testing next week
All students currently taking English 1 and 2 will be taking an English benchmark next week:
- Tuesday, February 12: English 2
- Wednesday, February 13: English 1
Students will test from 8:05am-11:30am in the auxiliary gym. All students will take the benchmarks, regardless of whether or not they are exempt from taking the English 1 STAAR because all students will be expected to take the English 2 STAAR their sophomore year and this data will help ensure they are on track to pass! Plus, it's fun.
Cheer Tryouts
If your student is interested in trying out for our cheer team, be sure to check out the cheer team's new website at:

Texas Success Initiative Assessment Information
TSI or the Texas Success Initiative is a college readiness standard that must be met by each student who will attend a Texas public college or university. Students who have not met the TSI standard prior to college admission may be required to take developmental math, reading, or writing classes and pay college tuition dollars for these non-college classes.
Lago Vista ISD would like every LVHS senior who graduates to have met these standards prior to graduation. TSI can be met through scores on SAT and ACT and also by meeting score standards on the TSI test. Seniors should contact the campus counselor for additional information. Please contact the individual college or university to see what tests are required and/or accepted.
*Arrangements to take the TSI assessment can be made through Austin Community College.
Join PTA! Two ways - online at www.joinpta.org or by check (made to LVHS PTA). Students who are members each year of high school are eligible for scholarships their senior year!

Attendance Matters.
Our schoolwide attendance goal for this year is 97%. Our state funding is based on the percentage of students at school at 10:15 am every day. Higher attendance rate = more money for resources for your student.
For students who exceed our 96% goal, we are planning some more exciting rewards this year, such as a movie in the PAC, Kona Ice, and exam exemptions!
For students who miss school, here is some very important attendance information:
3 or more unexcused absences in a 4 week period - warning letter sent home and phone call from the principal.
10 or more unexcused absences in a 6 month period - truancy charges are filed. Parent, student and school administrator will be summoned to appear in truancy court.
Our campus goal is to reach 97% attendance each day.
Thanks for your support!
