2025 Teaching Teams
As 2025 approaches I am pleased to share our teaching teams for next year. While we don't have a lot of staff changes, we do have some movement within our teaching teams based on class numbers changing at different year levels.
Next year we will have 5 classes in year 5-6, 7 classes in year 3-4, 5 classes in year 1-2, 3 New Entrant Classes at the start of the year and 3 classes in our Reo Rua Te Manawanui team.
Over the coming weeks our staff will be putting considerable effort into our class placements for 2025. I ask that you trust our team and the process that we use to formulate our teams. Your child's 2024 teacher knows your child very well, they know the friends they work well with and they know the friends that they are better off seeing at morning tea and lunch vs during learning time. Our class placement process is a very manual and time intensive process. We do not use a computer system to randomly generate class lists. While I appreciate some whanau would like to tell us your perspective for you child or in some cases request a specific teacher, I ask that you don't do this. This adds another element of complexity to our process. As I mentioned above, please trust us and our processes. Thank you.
Teacher Only Day Friday 15th Nov
As I have shared in previous newsletters, this Friday is a Ministry of Education provided Teacher Only Day. Our staff will be onsite working on unpacking some of the many directives that have come down from the Government in recent times.
Book Character Dress Up Day
A reminder that Thursday/Tomorrow is book character dress up day. We will be having a book character parade and a number of other fun book related activities during the day. Look out on Facebook for the photos!
Last Day 2024
A date for your calendar. School will close on Wednesday 18th December at 12:30pm.

Community Dental Service
The mobile dental unit will be onsite from Monday 14th October to Thursday 12th December 2024
The dental team will be seeing the most overdue tamariki/children during this visit. As the clinic will be prioritising all their appointments, it may not be possible for the dental staff to see all students during this visit.
Our dental team will notify the whanau and families prior to their tamariki’s dental appointment.
When you receive this notification, please contact the team to update any contact details, confirm medical details or renew permissions for examination and dental x-rays.
Current service demands and delays weigh heavily on our teams and your kindness and support is appreciated.
If you have any queries or urgent dental concerns, contact (027 303 5416) or 0800 TALK TEETH for further help and advice.

or
Website: http://www.papamoa.school.nz/report_an_absentee
Please include your child’s name, room and reason for absence.
If your child arrives at school after 8.40am they are late. Please ensure they sign in at the office before going to class. Thank you.
As part of our School-Links communication system, an automated text message will go out to all unexplained absences. This number is a reply once only.
While we understand that families sometimes need to take time away from school, it is essential that we as a school are notified.
Any absence longer than 20 school days will need to be approved in advance by the school principal. You can do this by sending an email to papamoaprimary@papamoa.school.nz explaining the reason for your child's absence and the dates they will be away. If your child is absent for longer than 20 school days the MOE instructs us to remove a child from our school roll. If you live outside of our school zone there is no guarantee that your child will be able to re-enrol at Pāpāmoa Primary School. It's important to keep communication open between us. If you have any questions or concerns about this process, please feel free to reach out to us.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in your child's education.
