The month of giving is upon us! At Whitewood Elementary, the character trait for December is compassion. Student Council has planned a Penny War to raise money for the Sturgis Animal Shelter. They also are sponsoring dress- up days in the spirit of the holiday.

Penny War for Sturgis Animal Shelter

A penny war is a fun and easy way to fundraise for our cause. Our penny war will run for one week from December 9th- December 13th.

How it works

• Each class will have a jar on a table in the hall in front of the office
• The goal is to get as many silver coin and bills in your jar as possible
• Adding (+) 1 nickel = 5 points, 1 dime = 10 points, 1 quarter = 25 points, etc
• Subtracting (-) 1 penny = 1 point
• The class with the most points by the end of the week wins! Student Council will be providing a special treat for the winning class the following week!

Popcorn and water for sale after school on Thursday, December 5th!

$0.50 for popcorn per bag

$1.00 for a bottle of water

If your student won gear (hat/waterbottle/shirts) from the read-a-thon, it will be sent home Thursday (12/5/24)

We recently received quotes to potentially place turf around the large structure of the playground update.
