CVUSD celebrates National Black History Month this February.
National Black History Month is a time to celebrate and commemorate the roles African Americans have played in our country’s history. This month acknowledges how African Americans have contributed economically, culturally, and socially to the development of the United States’ history.
CVUSD is committed to honoring and valuing the legacy, experiences, and contributions of African Americans, not just during February, but all year through. Click here to learn more.
From February 3rd through February 7th, the CVUSD proudly celebrates National School Counseling Week!
School Counselors reduce barriers to learning and provide the support necessary for all students to achieve at the highest level possible. They are actively committed to helping students explore their abilities, interests, strengths, and talents and assist teachers and other educators to help students cultivate their intellectual, social, and emotional development. School counselors also spend considerable time helping families and identifying resources in our community to assist students and families. CVUSD is proud to celebrate our School Counselors for their hard work and dedication to our students and entire school communities.

CVUSD Parents/Guardians, please join our BreakThrough Student Assistance Program and the Conejo Schools Foundation for a workshop on Online Safety presented by members of the Ventura County District Attorney, FBI and local law enforcement. This free, in-person event will take place on Tuesday, February 18th from 6pm to 7:30pm at University Center (2801 Atlas Avenue, Thousand Oaks).
This workshop will review online safety with tips and best practices for how to protect your children. Online safety is crucial in today's digital world, where kids and teens face risks like cyberbullying, scams, and harmful content. A serious issue is sextortion, where someone uses threats to get explicit material or money. Parents can help by keeping communication open, teaching safe online habits, and using privacy settings and parental controls. Together, families can create a safer internet experience for their children.
The CVUSD Special Education Leadership as well as Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) through the Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE), hosts a variety of events designed to support parents, guardians, and caretakers of students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). These events provide valuable resources, strategies, and connections to enhance each student's educational journey and foster meaningful collaboration among families, educators, and support providers. Join us to learn more about programs, services, and ways to support your child's unique learning needs. The below flyer delineates those hosted by CVUSD, for CVUSD families as well as SELPA events.
*Please Note: The Rainbow Connection event has a new date and location. It will take place on April 2, 2025 in the Century Academy MPR from 9:15am to 10:30am.
CVUSD's Wonder Preschool begins open registration for the 2025-2026 school year on Monday, February 10th! Wonder's classrooms use curriculum which emphasize Kindergarten readiness and incorporate the California Department of Education Preschool Learning Foundations. Teachers and children explore learning together, expanding curriculum into genuine inquiry.
