The Practical Nursing program achieved a 100% pass rate of its August 2024 graduates. Thirty-six graduates completed the national licensure exam (NCLEX-PN) after graduation on August 15, 2024, and all passed the licensure exam. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are in-demand in our region and can work in a variety of healthcare delivery settings.

Saint Francis University and the Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center (GACTC) recently implemented a new articulation agreement that will allow GACTC high school and postsecondary students to move seamlessly several of the center’s programs into the online Associate of Applied Science in Specialized Studies offered through Saint Francis University’s Division of Professional Studies.

Under the agreement, students who successfully complete any of GACTC high school or post-secondary programs with 700+ hours can transfer up to 48 credits into the new online A.A.S. in Specialized Studies. That means they only need to take four additional courses through Saint Francis to earn the A.A.S. degree.

Students in our adult welding program attended a chapter meeting of the American Welding Society held at Corle Building Systems this month. They toured the facility and learned more about careers in welding.

We're getting in the holiday spirit! Many thanks to students in our postsecondary electrical trades program for installing our sign at Lakemont Park's Lights on the Lake! Visit the Lights on the Lake evenings through January 5th.

Our postsecondary electrical trades program got to go on a tour of a construction site to see and discuss the electrical aspects of the building.

Students in our postsecondary dental assistant program observed Dr. Dangler and staff restoring an implant with a crown, completing restorations, sterilization, radiology, hygiene, and front office procedures. Many thanks to Dr. Dangler for hosting us!

Students in our postsecondary dental assisting diploma program learned how to make custom impression trays. Making the custom tray takes a more accurate impression of a patient's vestibular anatomy.

Our practical nursing students have been busy learning skills in preparation for clinical rotations!

The GACTC celebrated the accomplishments of seven postsecondary students that will complete the medical assistant diploma program at the end of November with a graduation ceremony on November 7th.
