New Student Information for the 2025-2026 School Year
IMPORTANT NEXT STEPS
This newsletter will provide you with the information you need to support your child in beginning their journey as a Timberlane Timberwolf!
1. Provide the most up-to-date academic records (unofficial transcript and report card)
This should be submitted to the district registrar at the time of registration (registrar@hvrsd.org).
2. Contact your child's former school and ask them to send official school records to:
Timberlane Middle School
Attn: Corrine Rutt
51 S. Timberlane Drive
Pennington, New Jersey 08534
3. Submit your child's World Language and Electives choices by clicking on the appropriate link below.
Course selections will be finalized based on review of your transcript.
Rising Grade 6 Elective & World Language Google Form
Rising Grade 7 Elective & World Language Google Form
Rising Grade 8 Elective & World Language Google Form
4. Check your email for a message from OnCourse. Follow instructions to activate your account and grant your child permission to access their account.
OnCourse is a secure web-based portal that allows parents, guardians, and students to view student information in real-time including homework, grades, student schedules, and attendance. OnCourse is an essential tool for your child's education. Please ensure you complete this important step.
5. Plan to attend new student orientation with your child: August 28th, 9:30 am to 11 am
This is by far, the very best way to get all the additional information and/or assistance you and your child need. During this event, we will also provide your child with a Chromebook, a student i.d. and more.
If you have any specific questions prior to new student orientation, or if you and your child are unable to attend new student orientation, please reach out to corrinerutt@hvrsd.org.
Math Placement for New Students
Students who are new to TMS will be placed in the grade level appropriate math course (i.e., Math 6, Math, or Math 8). If you would like your child to be considered for a higher level math course, a math placement assessment is required. Placement tests are only administered to students who have completed the registration process. Math placement tests will be administered this summer on July 16 and August 20 at 10:30 AM. You must preregister your child for one of these dates. Please click here to preregister.
World Language Placement for New Students
New students who will enter grades 7 or 8 at TMS in the fall and were not previously enrolled in a world language class will be placed into Spanish or French. 7th and 8th grade students who have previously studied a world language will be given a placement test to determine the most appropriate class placement. Placement tests are administered only to students who have completed the registration process. World Language placement tests will be administered this summer on July 16 and August 20 at 9:30 AM. You must preregister your child for one of these dates. Please click here to preregister.
Special Education / 504 Plans
If your child has an active IEP or 504 Plan, please provide the registrar with the most current version, along with any testing that has been done in the past three years. For IEPs, a member of the Child Study Team will contact you to coordinate a meeting to discuss an appropriate special education program. The case manager, in collaboration with the School Counselor, will create your schedule. For 504s, please request that your prior school send a copy of the 504 plan, along with any records they have, and the school counselor will work with you to ensure a smooth transition.
