A Message from Principal Cutone
September 13, 2024
Dear HES Caregivers, It’s been another fantastic week here at Harwich Elementary School, highlighted by our wonderful High Five Friday event! We’re thrilled to share some pictures below that capture the excitement of our Sharks interacting with our friendly local firefighters and police officers. At HES, one of our primary goals is to foster strong connections among our students and their families. I often tell our kindergarten families that they’re joining a community that will support each other through 13 years of schooling—elementary, middle, and high school. Building these relationships is essential for creating a sense of belonging, which in turn enhances the learning experience for everyone. To strengthen these connections, we’re excited to introduce our revamped Curriculum Nights. Mark your calendars for: Tuesday, September 24: Join us from 5:30 to 7:30 pm for grades 2-4. Enjoy a family dinner, visit your child’s classroom, and explore the gym to meet specialists and learn about community resources. Thursday, September 26: Join us from 5:30 to 7:30 pm for Kindergarten and 1st grade. Similarly, enjoy dinner, visit classrooms, and connect with specialists. We’ll provide a detailed schedule closer to the event. To help us plan for dinner, please RSVP using this form. In addition, we’re excited to launch Shark Bites, a new initiative from our School Council. On selected days, we will invite special adults to join their Sharks for lunch. Please note the brief time slots, so punctuality is key to ensure a smooth transition back to the classroom. To help us prepare, please complete this form with your availability. Lunch Times: Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. If there’s anything I can do to enhance your family’s experience at HES, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Warm regards, Christie
Notes from the Nurses' Office
School is off to a good start here at HES. The nursing office has already been busy with students who are not feeling well. Please review the guidelines for when students should stay home from school. They can be found in the School Handbook or on the Monomoy website.
If your student requires an inhaler, epipen, or any other medication at school, please bring it in ASAP with the proper documentation. If you have any questions please call or email me and we will help you navigate the process. We do not want to be in a situation where we need the medication and don’t have it. Thank you for taking care of this quickly.
Polished Dental will be coming to HES on October 7&8. Forms are being sent home to be filled out if you want your student to be enrolled. This is an amazing benefit for all students at no cost.
If you have any questions feel free to contact us.
