District of Doom, Indeed!
Congratulations to DeSoto and Duncanville on repeating as State Champions on Saturday. Now, Cedar Hill, along with those two Best Southwest schools, have three state championships apiece.
This season, District 6A-11 went an amazing 16-2 in the playoffs.
Six Longhorns Earn Academic All-State Honors
Six Cedar Hill High School Scholar-Athletes were named Academic All-State.
Scholars must have a 92 average or higher in order to earn this honor.
Cedar Hill High School football players Anthony Edwards (quarterback), Martins Aribisala (offensive lineman), Dante Wesley (cornerback) and Gary Hall (wide receiver) were the football honorees. The team finished 8-6, reaching the State Quarterfinals for the first time in three years.
Bruce Turner, a regional qualifier, and Ashlie Ramirez, who also finished fourth in the CHISD Christmas Card Contest, were the two cross country honorees.
Nineteen Longhorns Earn All-District Honors
Cedar Hill High School senior defensive end/running back Zhaiylen Scott, a North Texas commit, was named District 6A-11 Utility Player of the Year. Teammates Carlos Porter and Chris Deihl earned First Team All-District Honors.

Cedar Hill Longhorn Legacy Athletic Hall of Honor Announces 2024 Inductees
The Cedar Hill Longhorn Legacy Athletic Hall of Honor has announced its 2024 inductees. They will inducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at the Cedar Hill High School PAC.

Salter, Williams Headed to Fiesta Bowl
Liberty's Kaidon Salter and Amarian Williams will compete in the Fiesta Bowl as the Flames (13-0) face Oregon (11-2) on New Year's Day in Glendale, Arizona.
Former Cedar Hill head football coach Joey McGuire became the first Red Raiders head coach to win his first two bowl games since the late Mike Leach. Tech (7-6) defeated Cal, 34-14, in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport. Defensive end Charles Esters III had three tackles and defensive lineman Harvey Dyson III had one.
Marshall defensive lineman Jalil Rivera-Harvey returns to the Metroplex as the Thundering Herd (6-6) face UT San Antonio (8-4) at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Frisco Bowl. Rivera-Harvey finished the regular season with 13 tackles.
Oklahoma State defensive lineman Xavier Ross and the Cowboys (9-4) will face Texas A&M in the Texas Bowl on December 27 in Houston.
Kentucky offensive lineman Courtland Ford and the Wildcats (6-6) will face Clemson in the Gator Bowl on December 29 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Cedar Hill Girls Basketball Opens District Competition With Consecutive Victories
The Cedar Hill High School Girls Basketball Team opened District 6A-11 with consecutive victories over Mansfield Legacy (72-41) and at Mansfield Lake Ridge (67-49).
Brooklyn King scored 13 points, along with nine rebounds, in the Legacy game. Cedar Hill scored 27 points off 26 Legacy turnovers.
Taylor Craver finished with 10 points, nine assists and five rebounds in the win over Lake Ridge.
The Lady Longhorns (8-8, 2-0) will play one more 6A-11 game before the end of 2023, when they host Waxahachie (11-6). WHS is much improved compared to recent seasons.
"I'm proud of my girls," Cedar Hill head girls basketball coach Nicole Collins said. "They are playing exactly like I knew they were capable of and still have another level to go. I believe our non-district season definitely prepared for us for the District of Doom."

Cedar Hill Boys Basketball To Host Waxahachie in District 6A-11 Opener
Nicholas Addison finished with 13 points and nine rebounds as the Cedar Hill High School Boys Basketball Team defeated Grand Prairie, 65-48, last Friday. They will open District 6A-11 Competition against Waxahachie (7-6) on Tuesday.
"This is the time of the season we have been working toward," Cedar Hill head boys basketball coach Corey Chism said. "We have to make sure we are in sync at both the defensive and offensive ends of the floor. Hopefully, we have learned some things and have tightened up various aspects of what we do systematically."
