AHS counselors are currently visiting classrooms to talk to students about graduation requirements, review their transcripts, and assist them with their career plans for the following school year. Completing their next year's career plan is the first step towards creating their schedule for the upcoming school year. You can easily access the presentations that were presented by visiting the AHS website, going to the Counseling and College and Career tab, clicking on Counselor's Corner, and then selecting Presentations by AHS Counselors.

Sophomores and Juniors will take the PSAT on October 3, 2024. While they are testing, our seniors will participate in several sessions designed for them. We will have a job fair for seniors, with many local businesses hiring and offering exciting opportunities for our students. Jostens will be here to review cap and gown information, our SROs and counselors will each give a presentation, and there will be a senior meeting. AHS Counselors will be talking to students about appropriate and professional communication skills.

The first grading quarter will end on Friday, October 4th. Please encourage your students to finish the quarter on a positive note. Students who do not pass a class at the end of Quarter 1 will have the opportunity to participate in a teacher-led recovery program to improve their grade. Students should reach out to the teacher of record for more information on the quarterly recovery process. Please note that quarterly recovery is only available in the first and third quarters.

Students in advanced classes can request to move to a lower level twice a year. The first opportunity is at the first six-week mark, and the next and final opportunity will be in November for the spring semester of an advanced course. In November, information about moving to a lower level will be sent to all students in advanced classes, providing them with the timeline for making the request. If students want to move to level down for a spring semester course, they must complete the form by the required deadline.
