PEAK week April 21-25th!
Thank you to all the families who registered students on https://raiseaboveit.com/GavilanPeak/ and sent emails or texts to families and friends asking them to support GP.
Register and send emails today, Thursday, April 17, to be entered in the Peak Week Ticket drawings. You can still register, collect donations and earn other rewards all the way until April 25.
Here are some more details on our Peak Week fundraising goals:
Transforming the Quads into Usable Outdoor Learning Spaces
Many of you have seen that the grass areas in our quads are not looking good. The grass has been difficult to maintain with sprinkler systems that are in disrepair, and due to recent district budget cuts, our school is unable to get them fixed. Our goal is to replace the ground cover to make these spaces low maintenance, attractive, functional and fun for students. Studies show outdoor learning enhances brain development and function, increases physical activity, health resiliency and more. The PTO has already ordered some outdoor seating but we need your help in order to continue this substantial project!
Support for our Specials Teachers
Ask students "What is your favorite class at school?" and many will say it's one of their Specials! Whether it is Art, PE, STEM, Music or Band, these classes provide students opportunities for creativity, hands-on learning, collaboration skills, stress reduction, cognitive benefits and so much more. A portion of Peak Week fundraising will go to supplies and equipment for our Specials Programs.
Thank you again for your support and I am looking forward to a memorable and fun Peak Week from April 21-25.

Important safety notes about Field Day, April 24th
Please read!
- Students were given slips for participation on the inflatables on field day. We can not allow students who did not return a signed permission slip to use the inflatables. We can not accept phone calls or text messages as permission. This is for insurance purposes. They can still participate in all the other activities, provided they have proper footwear.
- Students must wear tennis shoes or sneakers for field day. Students wearing crocs, sandals, flip flops, boots, etc. will be asked to sit out.
- Please ensure all students have a hat, water bottle and have put on sunscreen. Please do not send sunscreen to school as it is considered a medication. (We know...but not our rule!)

Is your student interested in being in the school band next year?
Dear Firebird Families,
My name is Mrs. Stanford, I am the band teacher at Gavilan Peak! In 4th grade we have been exploring what instruments there are and trying them out. Please use this page to sign up for band next year.
https://www.bepartofthemusic.org/group/index.php?id=9318
In coming 5th/6th/7th and 8th graders may use this form to join band. If they are already in band they do not need to fill out any form.
Instrument rental night will be at GP on May 8th from 5-6pm, open house style in the gym, I hope to see you then!
Musically yours,
Mrs. Stanford
