Instructions For Making Easy Apple Pies with Kids
- Begin by peeling and dicing the apples finely.
- In a saucepan, mix apples, water, sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Heat on medium till it starts to simmer. Switch to medium-low and let it simmer for 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Once done, set aside to cool.
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
- For the crust, whisk together flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl. Pour in the oil and water, stirring till dough forms. Hand-knead until the dough solidifies.
- Create golf ball-sized dough portions and press them into the muffin pan. Continue this process until all cups are occupied.
- Spoon in your cooled apple pie filling into each crust.
- Sprinkle over some crumbled dough bits as toppings.
- Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until the crusts turn a beautiful golden brown.
- Once baked, cool them thorough before de-panning.

Empowering Underrepresented Gifted Learners: Book Study 2024-25
Research has shown that when students whose race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status or other realities differ from their teachers they are frequently overlooked in the identification process. For this reason, the book, Empowering underrepresented Gifted Students has been selected for a virtual five part book study facilitated by Dr. Joy Lawson Davis. Our study is intended to help educators, administrators and counselors move closer to ensuring equity, access and excellence in gifted education. This series is a collaboration between the Minnesota Department of Education, Nebraska Department of Education, Minnesota Council for Gifted and Talented and the Minnesota Educators of the Gifted and Talented. CEUs will be provided.
Book Study Meeting dates are:
• October 8, 2024, virtual meeting from 12-2 p.m.
• November 12, 2024, virtual meeting from 12-2 p.m.
• December 10, 2024, virtual meeting from 12-2 p.m.
• January 14, 2025, virtual meeting from 12- p.m.
• February 11, 2025, virtual meeting from 12-2 p.m.
All sessions will be recorded and available to registrants following each session. Open to all who are interested.
Cost: $100 for the series. Registration is required. Register online at Empowering Underrepresented Gifted Learners, Book Study 2024-25.
NMFA GENERAL INFORMATION
HELP YOUR CHILD SUCCEED IN SCHOOL
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school - and themselves. Let's help our NMFA children by building the habit of a good attendance record early which will lead to success in the classroom!
School hours are: 7:30am – 2:00pm
School doors for parent pick up in the morning: 7:15am - 7:30 AM
School doors for parents pick up open in the afternoon: 2:00pm
PARENTS - DROP OFF AND PICK UP REMINDERS
All students must be signed in by an adult after 7:30 AM. Students will be marked tardy if they are arriving after 7:45 AM.
Any students being dropped off in the morning should be brought to the cul-de-sac on Helen Street until 7:30 AM. If you are needing to pick up your student who normally rides a bus, please call the office no later than 1pm to notify the front desk. They will get the message to their teacher.
For students who ride bus stops, your students must be at their assigned stop 5 minutes prior to the pick up time.
If your student is sick, please leave a message on the attendance line, utilize the attendance form on our website, or use the JMC Family App to submit attendance. As a general reminder, students will be sent home from school if they have a fever of 100 or over, they have vomited or have diarrhea. We may also call to ask that you pick your student up if they are not able to participate in class due to feeling ill. Students should be kept home until they are fever, vomit, or diarrhea free for 24 hours with no medication. Students who miss 3 or more days will need a doctors note.
Please call the front office if you are needing to speak with a staff member directly, or send an email to that staff member. During the day they may not be available to take a call directly but will call you back as soon they have a free moment.
