High School Recommendation Requests
All students requesting a recommendation for high school must complete the following steps:
1. Have a personal conversation with your teacher to request a recommendation.
2. Complete the recommendation request form (linked below by team).
3. Share your teachers' email on the school's application site.
4. Send the teacher an email to let them know you completed the form and thank them for their time.
As Deal teachers receive many recommendation requests, all requests should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the application school's deadline and will be completed in the order they are received. Recommendations are completed at the discretion of the teacher. Students are responsible for maintaining positive relationships with their teacher and meeting high academic expectations.
While completing this form, students are required to submit complete, thoughtful responses that reflect the time and energy they expect from their recommending teacher. Incomplete or insufficient responses may result in the teacher not submitting a recommendation.

If your student needs a recommendation from a teacher not on these form (including 7th grade teachers), please email that teacher directly.

******FIELD TRIP OPPORTUNITY: I NEED YOUR HELP!*******
On December 11th, Team Woolloomooloo will go to the International Spy Museum. We have a large number of students this year and in order for this trip to be successful we are asking for your help! If you are able to chaperone this trip it would be greatly appreciated. You will be in charge of 10-15 students throughout the day. Chaperones need to be at Deal by 8:45 AM and we will be back by 2:45-3:00 PM. Chaperones need to have DCPS clearance to attend the trip. I have attached the guidance on how to obtain the clearance below this blurb. Please email me at caleb.selph@k12.dc.gov if you are able to chaperone this trip.
Ms. Mbanwie - Science
Next week, we will begin extensive properties of matter (Density, volume, and mass).
- There will be no homework for this week.
Mr. Turchetta - English/Language Arts
Hello everyone!
This week, we took the Reading Plus benchmark. It is back! The weekly assignments for Reading Plus won't start until the week after Thanksgiving break. Students will be required to complete 5 assignments total (at least 2 readings and 2 vocabulary and then the other they can choose).
Next week, we will begin a mini writing unit on informative writing. We will go through the process of writing an informative essay using the two articles we read previously.
***We will begin reading our next book, 145th Street, in about a month. If you haven't already purchased it. It would be great if you could so the student can have their own copy for in book annotations and assignments for homework. If you are able to buy more than one copy, we'd appreciate to have extra copies for other students.***
Have a great weekend!
