Principal's Message...
It has been another great week at Spalding Drive! Our 4th graders are working on multiplication while our kindergartners are learning new soccer moves in PE. I love seeing learning happening in every environment!
This week started our Molding Minds Monday rotations for the school year. Each grade level (K-5) will have an opportunity to visit either the STEM Lab or Media for an extension lesson around science or social studies once a month. The lessons last about 90 minutes and are taught by either Mr. McMahan or Ms. Hudson (a new face to Spalding). Ms. Hudson's position is being funded through our SGC this year and she will be at Spalding every Monday. She is coming with a wealth of knowledge as a former TAG teacher here in Fulton. This week started off as a huge success!
Don't forget to please take a moment to complete our yearly perception survey. This is a great way for the district to see what an incredible community we have at SDE and any areas for us to grow.
We want to hear from you! Take the Annual Parent Perception Survey between October 16 and November 22 and tell us what you think about Fulton County Schools. https://www.fultonschools.org/AnnualParentSurvey
I do encourage questions, suggestions, and any feedback you have throughout the school year. Please always feel free to reach out to me by email (rosenthall@fultonschools.org).
In Partnership,
Jennifer
Book Character Parade/Vocabulary Parade
Our annual parade will be on October 31st at 8:00 am. This year we are inviting parents to attend as well. Families will line the parking lot and our students will parade through the parking lot in addition to the school hallways.
A few reminders for all students:
- Your student should have a book or sign to indicate who or what they are
- All parts of the costume should be school appropriate - no weapons (fake or real) should be part of the costume
- There is still a full day of school after - make sure your student has a change of clothing or is able to continue with learning
Class Spelling Bee
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have participated in class spelling bees this week during Media Center classes. The students have impressed us with their positive attitudes and poise! The top 3 finalists from each class will have the opportunity to participate in our school spelling bee on Tuesday, November 19 at 8:15 in the cafeteria. A letter with more details will come home with the finalists next week. If your student did not qualify this year, it is okay! School spelling bees occur all the way through 8th grade! Please reach out to Lisa Jeffcoat with any questions. (jeffcoat@fultonschools.org)
Staff Spotlight...
Each week we will spotlight a different staff member! There are so many amazing adults here at SDE and I know everyone would love to learn a little more about each of them.
This week our spotlight is on our new Speech Language Pathologist, Cathy Clayton. Cathy has been a great addition to the team and has been working right alongside Ms. Toole to support our students and teachers.
