Principal's Message

Dear, Ericson Elementary Families,

This week, we are planning a makeup Spirit Assembly on Thursday, weather permitting. Please remember to dress your students appropriately for the weather, as rain is in the forecast. We will keep you updated if there are any changes to the schedule.

A big thank you goes out to all the parents who joined us last Thursday for Dr. Seuss Literacy Day. Your participation was greatly appreciated, and we hope the event sparked a love for reading in our students.

Looking ahead, we are excited for the Jog-a-Thon on March 20th. This event is an important fundraiser for our school, and we encourage all families to get involved. Together, we can raise the necessary funds to continue supporting the programs and resources our students need to thrive.

Finally, I would like to recognize the incredible support we receive from the Friends of Ericson Foundation. Their ongoing generosity provides additional resources for our school, which directly benefits all of our students.

Mrs. Eden's class on their field trip to the San Diego Zoo.

On Thursday, we had Read Across America. Although it was wet outside due to the rain, it did not dampen our mood. It was wonderful to see parents come and sit and read with their children.

Ms. deLeon and Ms. Igoe's class went to Old Town for a field trip this week. They got to experience a little bit of what life was like during this time period.

Counselor's Update

Hello Ericson Families,

This week at Ericson our kindergarten students learned about interruptions and different feelings in our bodies. First grade read "A Bike Like Sergio's" and learned an important lesson about being honest. Second and fourth grade classrooms had a special guest visitor, a UCSD student spoke to them about different aspects of college. Fifth grade students discussed how to handle peer pressure and third graders did not have a lesson due to the holiday on Friday. Have a great weekend!

Campus Beautification:

Thank you to all the current families, alumni students and parents, and staff who showed up last Saturday to beautify Ericson! All the sweeping, gathering, repairing, scrubbing, sanding, and painting helped renew our campus. How wonderful that we could do this TOGETHER!

Ericson Garden Program:

We applaud our hardworking Garden Club students and our generous parent volunteers who worked together to install our three young citrus trees and SIX young blueberry plants! Hearty thanks to everyone who helped fund this project through our fundraiser with Yasukochi Family Farms or through their generous donations. We look forward to the beauty and eventual bounty these plants will bring to our campus!
