LODL Newsletter- "THE WAVE"
el 17 de mayo 2024
From the Principal:
Dear LODL Families,
The end of the year is right around the corner! We have had such a busy and thrilling week filled with all sorts of activities and spending a lot of time outside. This past week we had our Kindergarten Roundup for the new incoming group in the fall, and current Kindergarten and Grade 5 students are planning for their graduation celebrations. It's an exciting time of the year as we aim towards closing the school year out on a positive note.
The end of this school year will mark LODL's 10th year of serving students. A full decade. Our first and eldest cohort will be in 10th grade Spanish immersion programming next fall. I still remember when LODL opened its doors with four classrooms located in the back section of Edgewood School in the Fall of 2014. What a ride it has been!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Please feel free to contact me anytime, I am always happy to hear from you. I can be reached directly at 952-226-0303 or rkucinski@plsas.org.

End of Year Celebration!
Let's close out a fantastic school year with food trucks, Pickleball, farewells to our 5 interns, S'mores and playground fun! Our LODL 5th graders will also be selling hand-woven bracelets, or 'pulseras,' to empower the artists who make them in Nicaragua and Guatemala. Bracelets can be purchased with cash or venmo. Join us at the La ola del lago playground/back parking lot for the celebration! Confirmed food trucks include Weenie Wagon, California Eat & Dip, and Snowballs.

La Ola del Lago Raises Awareness and Funds for Artists in Central America
From 05/20/2024 to 06/04/2024, La Ola del Lago's 5th grade classes will be selling hand-woven bracelets, or ‘pulseras’ in Spanish, to empower the artists who make them in Nicaragua & Guatemala. The sale was organized through the Pulsera Project, a Fair Trade nonprofit organization that empowers and educates people in the U.S. and Central America through pulsera sales.
These will also be for sale at the End of the Year Party on May 29th from 5-7p.m
Student and teacher volunteers raise funds that benefit fair trade jobs, worker rights, sustainability, and education, while learning about the culture, lives, and struggles of Central Americans. The Pulsera Project’s goal is to create a more just and colorful world by encouraging conscious consumerism and social enterprise.
