***February 2025 Updates***
Kindergarten Math: What's Coming Up!
As we move into the second half of the year, your child will continue building essential math skills! They will practice counting by 1’s and 10’s all the way to 100. A major focus will be learning to add and subtract within 5, using patterns and number relationships to develop fluency and confidence in recalling these basic math facts. To wrap up the year, students will explore how to describe and compare measurable attributes of objects (taller, shorter, bigger, smaller) and begin learning about money.
Be sure to check out the Kindergarten Parent Shared Folder (always linked below) for fun activities on each topic you can do at home to support your child’s math learning!

Mr. Dan's Class: This week students are celebrating literacy. The themes and activities are aligned with some favorite literacy authors and books such as: Anna Dewdney's- Llama Llama Red Pajama, James Dean's- Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons, and Eric Carle's- Love from The Very Hungry Caterpillar!"
Mrs. Abramov, School Library Media Specialist: This week in library class your child listened to a story that won an award for best illustrations. The story is by the author/illustrator Jon Klassen titled This Is Not My Hat. This children's book won in 2013. The story is told through a tiny fish with a blue hat. Well, the hat is not the tiny fish's hat. Ask your child where the tiny fish got it from. The award that this book won is called the Caldecott Medal. It is an award that is given to the most distinguished American picture book for children that was published in the United States during the preceding year. The award is given to the illustrator. Some notable past winners are as follows: Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak and The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. You can find a list of Caldecott winners by typing this into a url - https://alsc-awards-shelf.org/directory/results Happy reading!
Mrs. Meadows, Art/Music: In Art & Music, students are working on watercolor paintings in the style of artist Alma Woodsey Thomas. Ask your child about her artwork and some of the things she painted. Students are also using their singing voices to explore a variety of high and low sounds.
