Welcome Back!
As the beginning of the year is underway, students and staff have spent time learning and practicing our Wolverine Expectations. At Wilson, we value Being Respectful, Being Responsible, and Being Safe throughout the school community. Having clear expectations on what this means in each area of the school setting helps individuals be successful. Attached is our Expectation Matrix used at Wilson. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1crjfL6E9l8OaJLXBHOLVgQCiReSBfpXn8Dz0p9BbxCw/edit
A couple of years ago, our Occupational Therapist, Jennifer Hansen worked with a number of volunteers to incorporate a sensory pathway throughout thehallways of Wilson. These colorful stickers are on the floors and walls and provide interactive, colorful and engaging ways to add some extra sensory input for students who need a movement break from class or while waiting in line during transitions between lunch, recess and their classrooms. Some of the movement opportunities in our sensory pathway include jumping on colored rocks, jumping over logs, wall pushups, crab walk, hopscotch and marching on the ants. The various movements on a path are designed to engage different parts of the body and brain and increase student learning and engagement throughout the school day. Using the sensory pathways help students focus, learn more, integrate their senses and have better behavior.
Be sure to follow our Facebook page and school website to stay up to date on current events. We also use Class Dojo schoolwide. Please be sure to communicate with your child's classroom teacher if you are not already connected to their classroom.
