Coach's Corner
As we exit a remarkable championship season and enter a new SC season, here are a few tips to keep in mind for future swim meets!
1. Know Your Goals:
Go into each race at your big meet knowing what you want to achieve. Do you have a specific goal time? Want to make finals? GOOD! Be sure to write it down along with HOW you're going to achieve that goal. This will help you go into each race with more confidence knowing that you have a plan!
2. Tried and True, Nothing New:
Many swimmers have a tendency to try to switch things up once they get to their big meet. They'll eat differently or try to incorporate more healthy foods the week leading up to a meet. Some may even want to try out some fancy new brand of goggles on race day. DON'T! Stay consistent with your diet, gear, and pre-race routines! This is what your body is comfortable with and is what you're used to so this is going to be how you perform best.
3. Have Fun:
There can be a lot of pressure associated with the "end of season meets". You've worked hard all season so you want something to show for all of your efforts! Remember: it's just another swim meet! Enjoy racing and cheering alongside your friends and teammates. Happy swimmers swim fast.
