đź’™Panther PRIDE - A Focus on Kindnessđź’›
Dear PV Families,
I hope you are all doing well and looking forward to a beautiful weekend. We had a fantastic week here at PV, filled with special moments. Below are some highlights, including our celebration of Unity Day and our Kindergarten Reading Celebration.
A few announcements and upcoming events…
Readathon Fundraiser: A huge thank you to the families who have signed up and are actively raising funds for our school as their children read, read, read! If you haven’t signed up yet, please consider doing so. The funds raised directly support our school activities.
Fall Festival: Tomorrow, October 19th, is our 3rd Annual Fall Festival at 6 PM in the PV parking lot. A special thank you to our Committee Chair, Nicole Kulpa, and her team for planning and promoting this event. We’re excited for a fun evening!
Book Fair (Oct. 22-25): Our incredible Committee Chairs, Meredith Roche and Katrina Mattern, have done a tremendous job organizing the upcoming Book Fair. You can show your appreciation by ensuring your student has funds in their eWallet or by joining us on Friday, October 25th, for Family Night—the final day to shop at the fair. Proceeds will support future school events and activities.
Finally, I would like to us to welcome Mr. Pranav Kapil the newly elected Treasurer of our PTO. On that note have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Esther Boakye-Dattey
Kindergarten Celebration
The kindergarten classes used our courtyard on Tuesday to join up with a partner in another class to read together.
Unity Day Pictures
We had a sea of Orange throughout the school on Unity day in addition to special classroom activities to encourage kindness, courage and inclusion.
For Unity Day, Mrs. Leon's class, pictured below, read Juice Box Bully and then designed their own juice boxes to spread kindness messages.

Message from the PV Health Nurses
As mandated under school health assessments, Pleasant Valley Health Office will be conducting vision and hearing screenings on all K-1st and 3rd-5th grade students at some point during the school year. Screenings will take place throughout the school year. The purpose of these screenings are to identify children with potential vision and hearing difficulties that may affect their ability to learn.
Please be aware that these screenings do not take the place of routine care provided by your child/ren’s medical professional. The vision screening measures distance acuity only and is not considered an eye exam. Hearing screenings are used to determine potential hearing loss. It is not a diagnostic tool used to determine middle ear disease or defect.
If you wish for your child/ren not to participate in these screenings, please contact the nurses’ office by phone or email.
Crosswalk Reminders
We are so thankful for families watching out for our families and students in the parking lot. We please ask you to be aware/obey the stop signs, and stop at the crosswalks for pedestrians. We encourage families using the crosswalk to cross with their student/s and to wait at the crosswalk until all drop-off cars come to a complete stop, and the crosswalk guard signals it is safe.
