- Monday - you should be going over the progress tracker and making a plan for students and how to keep them on track.

This is a time to work individually with students. It is not a time for teachers to check email, grade papers, etc. Homeroom emails can be sent any time before the end of
the day please do not send them during advisory period. - Please make sure you are adhering to the 15-minute rule for letting students leave your classroom and please only let one leave at a time. There are too many students in the hall during class periods.
Several interesting articles....
- You will see two new links in the Locker under Professional Development regarding Chap. 37 Law. If nothing else, take a look at the matrix. We will plan a Q&A at the staff meeting on Oct. 10th.
- Gradesheets - two things - one - you need to be keeping some type of record of grades in case we need to verify that a student actually completed a course or if we have a question about a grade... two- you need to keep some record of an electronic submission. We are getting duplicate entries which are causing confusion. One of the options I added was for you to be able to receive an email copy of what you submitted. If you create a folder and just put them in it, you will have a record of everything you submit.
- If you have class in the main Academy building, please stand in the hall during passing periods. It is important that the students see a presence to help control behavior.

The Restorative Practices Continuum
The IIRP defines five main strands of restorative practices on a continuum as follows:
- Affective Statements which are brief comments about how others were impacted by the person’s behavior.
- Affective Questions which are one step further, asking the wrongdoer questions like who was affected, how they were affected, etc.
- Small Impromptu Conference where you bring together a few people to talk about the incident, its impact and what to do next
- The Large Group or Circle which allows everyone to have some say in what should happen as a result of the wrongdoing and…
- The Formal Conference which involves more planning and preparation and tends to be more structured and complete.
The full Restorative Conferencing model sits at the formal end of the informal to formal Restorative Practices Continuum and is largely used in cases where responsibility has been accepted and harm acknowledged.
Restorative Conferences have been used for many different purposes over the last decade. Some have been cases involving full acceptance of responsibility and acknowledgment of harm caused, whilst others have not. Some have involved all parties to the incident whilst others have provided a service to one or the other party and their respective supporters.
It is not always appropriate or necessary to hold a full conference for all incidents and in fact, the use of restorative practices at all levels, from informal through to formal is to be recommended.
When Restorative Practices and language are embedded into the way we deal with all conflict and inappropriate behavior we are most likely to make a difference in the lives of those harmed and affected and the lives of perpetrators too.
