Explorations Update
Here is a link to the latest Elementary Explorations newsletter. In this issue, you will see a recap and photos of Lesson 1, as well as a description of what's coming up in Lesson 2.
October Counselor Corner
It was so fun being in the classrooms last month and seeing everyone. I also had such a great time with our new kindergarteners. Whenever people ask me about my job, I say how much I enjoy being at school, especially because I get to visit every classroom in the building!
In September we focused on belonging and playing. It was interesting to hear from students regarding what they “learn” while playing without realizing it. We will continue the foundation topics and focus on friendships during October. How do we feel when we are with our friends, and how do we make our friends feel when we are together. We will read the book “Kindness Starts with You at school” and play the Pterodactyl game and discuss positive friendships.
For families of children second grade and older, you will be receiving information in your teachers newsletter about upcoming groups.
Be well,
Jean Allocco, School Counselor
Related Arts Update
In art class, 3rd graders have been exploring watercolor techniques to add emphasis to their Radial Leaf Designs. Students have shown many unique and creative approaches to adding color. They enjoyed sprinkling salt on their watercolors, trying the splatter technique, and adding sparkly iridescent effects to their work. Amazing job 3rd grade!!!

From Nurse Dawn
Nurse Dawn would love it if parents of kindergarten and first grade students would keep a set of extra clothes in children's backpacks. Thank you for your help!
Literacy Night
We are excited to offer Literacy Night again this year. At this event caregivers will gain a better understanding of what literacy looks like in their child's classroom and they will receive tips and suggestions for things they can do at home to help support their literacy learner. The presenters will be the literacy liaisons, principals, and reading support staff (specialists, OG, etc.).
We hope to see you at this event on Wednesday, September 25th from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Tremont cafeteria.
Multilingual Family Night
Come and learn more about the program Upper Arlington offers for Multilingual students! We will discuss a variety of topics, and provide resources related to school and the Upper Arlington community. In addition, we hope this event provides an opportunity for families to connect.
If you will be bringing your child, we will have quiet activities for them to do during the event.

Walk + Roll Thursdays Started September 19th!
Walk + Roll is a Tremont tradition promoting walking and biking safely to school. Every student that rides a bike, scoots or walks to school on Thursdays from September 19th through October 24th (*skipping Oct. 3rd due to Fall Fest*) will receive a hole punch in a punch card. Please ensure your students’ name and teacher name are written on the card! We will have two parent volunteers at each of the three entrances on those Thursday mornings. For every hole punch, the PTO will donate $.05 to World Bicycle Relief!
At the conclusion of the fall session, students should turn in their punch cards to the volunteers! We will count up the total number of hole punches for donation purposes. Additionally, the class with the most hole punches will earn an extra recess!
Interested in being one of those volunteers? Click on this SignUp Genius! Any further questions, please contact Kristen Pastor at kcpastor@gmail.com.
