Schedule a Tasty Author Visit!
Brave Cherries, Dangerous Desserts, and Your Students!
Author Matt Damon will take your students behind the scenes into story writing, as well as collaboration with an illustrator.
Dear Educator,
I am the author of the award-winning children’s picture book, The Fall of General Custard or The Overthrow of a Leftover. It is the story of a food fight in a refrigerator, which ultimately comes to a "peasful” resolution when courageous foods choose cooperation and inclusion over conflict and fear.
I would love to schedule an author visit to your school.
In addition to being an author, I bring to your school my 27 years of experience as an educator. (Classroom teacher, school librarian and professional storyteller.) I am a true believer in the power of story to transform young hearts and minds.
Let's work together this year to celebrate literacy and connect it to the creativity and curiosity of your students.
Give Peas a Chance,
Matt Damon

Matt Damon’s author visit to our elementary school was very exciting for both students and staff. The story of his journey as a writer in bringing The Fall of General Custard or the Overthrow of a Leftover to publication inspired our young writers to engage in the writing process and to see writing as a craft. Teachers were able to expand on his visit with numerous rich literacy activities tied to his book. As an educator and storyteller, Matt knows how to engage children of all ages and we look forward to having him back in the future.

Let's Schedule Something!
February - May dates are currently open and very flexible. Mondays and Fridays are best.
To schedule a visit or get more information, call me or use the link below to email me.
Cost:
Author Presentation - $300, minus $5.00 per pre-sold book or day of book purchase. Also, subtract $50 if you partner with another school to have me visit them as well.
(Example: Your cost is $150 if 20 books are sold and you get a partner school.)
A visit will always include two free copies of my book for your school library.
Transportation and Lodging - This is usually no cost to you as long as I can cluster my visits geographically. If you spread the word or partner with other schools, that helps.
Book Sales: I will sell and autograph books during my visit. (The books will be priced one third off the cover price. $12.00 instead of $17.95)
