On the Horizon

11/27-11/29- No School. Thanksgiving break

This past week we hosted our first family night. We appreciate all the families that came out. Families ate dinner, participated in some activities and different prizes were raffled off.

Franklin Middle School aims to provide a positive and safe environment for students attending after-school athletic events. To ensure that all attendees can enjoy these events respectfully, we ask both students and parents/guardians to read, understand, and agree to the guidelines below. Failure to adhere to these expectations will result in removal from the event and potential suspension from attending future games for the remainder of the season. Students will not be allowed to attend home games until they have a signed contract on file with a parent signature. Paper copies were provided to students and additional copies are in the main office.

This past week, members of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) volunteered at the Westland Historical Village Park (WHVP) to help set up festive Christmas decorations. Their hard work has transformed the village into a holiday wonderland, creating a magical atmosphere for the community to enjoy during the upcoming visit from Santa in December.

We are so proud of our NJHS students for their dedication to serving our community and helping to spread holiday cheer. Thank you for making a difference and setting an example of leadership and generosity this season!

If your child’s bus is canceled, please make sure to inform the school by calling the attendance line or speaking with our counseling secretary Ms. Braswell. Let them know that the absence is due to a bus cancellation. The secretary will mark your child’s attendance with a “B” for bus cancellation, which will not count against them for truancy purposes.

Franklin Middle School and New Hope Baptist Church are hosting our annual coat drive for our students. We are reaching out to our Franklin Middle and Hicks Elementary communities to be of service. There are coat closets at these locations throughout the year. It is in the spirit of service that we commit to serving others. We thank you for your collaboration in this endeavor. Please send an email to Ms. Daniels at danielsr@wwcsd.net or 734-419-2409 if you are interested in receiving a coat for your student.

Please see the attached document for an overview of some keys policies pertaining to cellphones, headphones, earbuds, hats, hoodies and backpacks. We will review these policies with students during our grade level assemblies.
