PTA Color Games
The PTA Color Games Fundraiser is happening on Friday, March 14th! All students are welcome to pay to participate.
Students may bring $5.00 to participate in the games with other students in their grade levels.
Students may bring $20.00 to participate in the games AND color run at the end of the event. These students will also be entered in a raffle to win Beats Studio Buds, Wireless Beats headphones, or a Fire HD 10 tablet!
All money collected goes straight to our PTA, which uses the money to purchase materials for our teachers, sponsor clubs for our students, and plan Family Fun events!
SPECIAL BONUS: The event will be led by Coach Barron! He is a beloved PE coach who served our school community for many years before retiring. For a cool school-wide event like this, he has volunteered to return for one-day-only to lead students in all the fun!
AR Spring Challenge
K-5 STUDENTS:
As part of this year's National Read Across America Initiative, an Accelerated Reader (AR) Spring Challenge will be taking place March 3rd - 31st to promote the continued development of critical reading skills and a love for reading.
Read! Read! Read! Join the AR challenge to earn a variety of prizes through different categories!
NO registration is required. Students may access AR anytime, year-round via Schoology or Clever in their Student Portals.
The Challenge:
- # of words read
- # of quizzes passed
- % of engaged students (school)
Miami Beach Youth Music Festival
Our city’s best youth musicians – three stages with jury-selected young bands, teenaged jazz cats, piano wizards, young rockers, singers, hip hop, school ensembles, marching bands. And Bandshell Park will be filled with fun activities for kids of all ages.
Our Fienberg Fisher K-8 Rock Ensemble will be performing on the Burris Stage during the Youth Music Festival on Saturday, March 8th, 2025. Admission is FREE throughout the event from 3 pm - 10 pm.

Miami Music Project Spring Concert
Miami Music Project will have their Spring Concert on Friday, March 14th at 5:30 pm in our school Auditorium.
Elementary & Middle School students currently enrolled in our afterschool program with the Miami Music Project will be performing. They will be showing off what they've learned with their classical instruments this year.
It promises to be a special night of fun and music.

Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program
Will your child turn 4 years old by September 1st?
REGISTER BEFORE MARCH 7th for our VPK Program Lottery for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year online via the Parent Portal at www3.dadeschools.net .
VPK is a free high-quality educational program that prepares 4-year-olds for kindergarten and beyond. To be eligible for VPK, children must be four (4) years old on or before September 1. Beginning on January 21st, families should access the VPK lottery application by signing into the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Parent Portal using their Google or Apple ID, regardless of whether they have a child currently enrolled in one of our schools. Once the online application has been submitted, the parent and/or guardian must stop by the school to submit the required registration documents to be entered into the lottery taking place on March 14, 2025.
Parents may obtain their required 2025 VPK Program Certificate of Eligibility (COE) after January 1, 2025, online at the VPK Family Portal website: http://www.vpkhelp.org
The COE is not required, however recommended for lottery eligibility.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you have a scholarship through the City of Miami Beach for VPK, YOU STILL NEED TO REGISTER FOR THE VPK LOTTERY BEFORE 3/7.

Reading Pal volunteers work with small groups of students to teach them to read.
Requirements:
- Must be over 18 years of age
- Be able to commit to one hour per week
- Complete a background check
- Attend a literacy training session

Free Health and Wellness Programs
Get ready to embark on an exciting journey toward health, wellness, and fun! The MBFFK8 PTA Health and Wellness Program is proud to sponsor 12 weeks of dynamic sports clubs starting January 27, 2025, through April 14, 2025. Whether you’re passionate about soccer with Coach Castaño, volleyball with Coach Mendez, or basketball with Coach Rothschild, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Sessions are conveniently held after school on the school field and gym, making it easy to stay active, learn new skills, and make lifelong friends. Join us and make this season unforgettable!

Craving a quick bite? Support the PTA with pizza sales every Wednesday at dismissal! 🍕 Or, grab a treat after school on Thursdays and Fridays to help fund school events and activities. Every purchase makes a difference—thank you for your support!
LET'S GET YOUR CHILD A COMPUTER!
This notice applies to all the children in the school, Pre-K through 8.
Before we can issue your child a laptop for the 2024-25 school year, we need you to please
1) purchase $27 insurance in case the computer gets damaged
2) give us permission to entrust your child with a laptop.
You need to fill in two very simple online forms.
Before you begin, make sure you know your child's school I.D. number. (The online forms only accept 7-digit IDs. If your child has a 6-digit ID, no problem: just add a 0 to the front of the number.)
LAPTOPS - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Should everybody get laptop insurance?
Yes. Please purchase $27 Dell / HP insurance.
Can I talk to someone if I need help purchasing insurance online?
You can call the insurance company, Securranty, at 832-304-2015.
Securranty says they have Spanish speakers available to help.
When do you distribute laptops?
We are currently distributing laptops to middle schoolers with insurance.
What about elementary school students?
Elementary students' laptops will be housed in carts in the classroom.
Elementary students may take laptops home to help with homework at their parents' request.
However, parents must guarantee that children will bring laptops back for classwork the following day;!
What happens if I do not purchase insurance?
Your child will be assessed a Technology Fee of $20 for the school year. This does NOT cover insurance!
Any loss / damage will result in a financial obligation placed on the students account, which will inhibit their receipt of a High School certificate.
How much does laptop loss / repair cost?
Without insurance, these could cost hundreds of dollars. With $27 insurance, they cost nothing.
