BOND CONSTRUCTION UPDATE π§

JULY 2024
π§ Important Construction / π Traffic Update
Rogers MS Families:
We hope you are having a great summer break! If you have driven past Rogers, MS, this summer, you know that we havenβt had a break this summer! Our construction teams are working extremely hard to complete the first phase of our campus' modernization, funded by the overwhelming support of the 2023 Bond.
Four new classrooms will be completed by the start of school and a temporary entrance to the front office area, which is now located in the back of the school.
And that is what we are here to talk about today!
π IMPORTANT TRAFFIC UPDATEπ
While we are all excited about the updates to our campus, we know that the traffic it will create is less exciting. Well, it could be exciting, but not in a great way!
What does this mean?
Increased wait time to drop off/pick up students.
Increased confusion about the traffic pattern.
Aggravation and agitation!
Changing traffic patterns
Buses will drop off/pick up students in the front of the building, and families will drop off/pick up students in the back of the building. More information will be coming soon as to what this will look like. (IYKYK: 80s movie Mr. Mom)
Maybe it's time for carpool!
We know that the Rogers community leans in to help one another. It may be time to talk with your friends and neighbors about consolidating drop off and pick up. It would be helpful for fewer cars dropping off more kids.
Bus riders
If your child is eligible for bus transportation, please think about using the bus this year.
What are we doing to mitigate this traffic issue?
We are working on detailed videos and maps for you so you will feel comfortable about what traffic will look like. In addition:
Additional Prosper ISD Police Officers and parking lot attendants
Additional communication to families about traffic patterns
Video explanation of drop off/pick up
Maps of drop off/pickup
We have closed Rogers to new enrollment
π« At the end of school, Rogers was closed to all new enrollment. In other words, we are capped with only returning students and incoming sixth graders from Prosper ISD schools. Our enrollment should be around 1,600 students. However, we are staffed for 1,850 students. We have more teachers and staff to help students with the potential disruptions to instruction and keep them safe and secure.
Whatβs next?
If you need to visit campus, please park around the back of the building and use the door numbered 17.
We know that our dedicated teachers, staff, and awesomely supportive families will make this an adventure and an opportunity to show how well we can overcome and adapt to the construction challenges. Rogers Middle School will continue to be outstanding!
