March 2024
Superintendent's Nest
Welcome to March! We just completed Trimester 2 of the school year. We were able to celebrate the 100th day of school on February 13th. Time flies when you are having fun and learning! Conferences will be held the last week of March; watch for more information to come regarding signing up for times.
During the month of March, we will have Mystery Readers join us daily to read to the students. They will bring some of their favorite books with them, or they can choose from our classroom libraries. The readers are community members, parents, grandparents, previous students, etc. If you are interested in reading, please contact me soon; the time slots have filled up quickly.
Thank you to The American Legion Auxiliary and The American Legion SONS in South Haven for their monetary donations towards student’s home library books. Students receive a book every month that is grade-appropriate and FREE to help build literacy skills at home and reinforce the skills they are learning at school. If you would like to donate to this program, please let me know; every amount helps. Remember: Readers are Leaders!
Thank you to the voters of Glenn Public School who cast their votes in the February 27th election. The preliminary results are in, and the operating millage renewal proposal, along with adding two more members to the school board passed. Community members who live in Glenn School District will be able to file for the November election for the open school board seats. Allegan County clerk’s office can assist with this process.
We have a couple of field trips in March. The whole school will be checking out the Kalamazoo Valley Museum and then attending the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra concert next week. Later in the month, the whole school will be traveling to Saugatuck to the Mountain Film Festival at the SCA and then the Saugatuck/Douglas library. We are very thankful for all the parents who volunteer to drive and chaperone our field trips throughout the year. If you have not filled out a volunteer form yet this year, please let Ms. Cate or I know so we can get one to you.
Spring Break is right around the corner! I hope everyone stays healthy, finds time to relax, and read a good book while on vacation. This is a great time to re-energize and look forward to warmer months ahead.
Sincerely,
Jamie Walle
