Student Agreement
Agree to professionally represent the school and employer. Display a willingness to learn. It is a privilege to be in this program.
Agree to not take advantage of the independence of WBL. Please understand that you can be removed and placed into an elective if this occurs. You are NOT to be on campus during your WBL Period unless you have permission from Ms. Howard.
Agree to be evaluated by employer/WBL Coordinator monthly. It is very important that your evaluations are signed by your mentor/employer, parent and yourself.
Agree to let Ms. Howard know of any job challenges--you are only allowed to change jobs once a year at the semester change.
Agree to submit to Ms. Howard a monthly portfolio which include the following: attendance sheet or pay stubs indicating total hours and wages earned during that period, as well as portfolio assignments.
Requirement – work or intern one hour for each release period during the day.
1 WBl Period = 5 hrs per wk
2 WBL Periods = 10 hrs per wk
3 WBL Periods = 15 hrs per wk
4 WBL Periods (Approval from Principal) = 20 hrs per wk
Agree to announced and unannounced employer visits.
Agree to attend Mandatory Meetings -you have those dates on the first day of school
Agree to adhere to the school’s attendance policy.
Parental Support-It takes a village...
•To understand and help enforce the attendance policy in order to instill in your students a solid work ethic.
•They should also plan to stay in this position at least through the length of the WBL course. It’s important the student seeks a position that matches their interest, abilities, values , and scheduling constraints to minimize conflicts related to working. (ONE JOB CHANGE PERMITTED)
•When a student accepts a paid or non-paid position at a business partner’s place of business, the student is expected to follow all guidelines and protocols . (phone, dress, holidays etc.)
•Transportation to and from work is both your and the students responsibility. Please assist your student to ensure they are able to get both to and from their job.
•Your student must be covered by your personal health insurance or school insurance as well as accident insurance.
•To encourage and model employability skills to your student
Department of Labor (Child Labor Laws)
No restrictions on how late a student (16 years or older) can work
Work Permit is NOT required for a person 16 years or olderNo driving between the hours of 12AM-5AM (effective July 2014) for students 16-18 years old (CLASS D License)
Absences
Students are not to attend work if they are absent from school.
*Please plan ahead for appointments, games, vacations, college visits, prom, etc.
Time will need to be made up for any days missed.
Students are to communicate any absences/tardiness to Ms. Howard and your employer/mentor – leave a message, text or email when absent before 8:30 a.m.
Warning for the first time – Second time – detention.
When you check out – record check out time on sign in/out sheet.
50 Points will be deducted from your weekly grade if students fail to adhere to absences agreement.

Employer Expectations
•Begin working/interning on time
•Smile and offer assistance & ask questions
•Always say please and thank you
•Do not use your cell phone while on the work site for any reason.
•In case of an emergency, make sure your parents know the work site phone number, extension and mentor’s name.
Serious Violations
If Employers or Mentors calls/emails me when you are absent without permission or call in.
If you are not present at your worksite as scheduled and as you have documented on sign out sheet.
If you leave your work site early with out prior permission from your employer or WBL Coordinator.
These violations will result in being written up and possibly spending a day in ISS - it is considered SKIPPING!

What's next?
All WBL Students will report to Media Center (1-5th) and Cafe (6-7th Period) on Monday, August 7th and Tuesday August 8th during your WBL period- Must have documentation packet with parent and student signatures completed before you can leave campus!
On Aug 7th you will receive the following:

•Yellow WBL Folder

Failing to sign out or sign in daily – even if you check out – you are required to sign out – 20 points first month then -50 points.
Being absent from school and not notifying WBL Coordinator and your mentor– 50 points and detention
Failing to bring in pay stubs or attendance sheet monthly. – 0 Test Grade
(Students that receive a pay check will need to make a copy of your stub and turn it in with your portfolio every month)
Being at school after being released from class without prior permission from WBL Coordinator– 50 points and possible detention
Failing to turn in Portfolio on time will result in a automatic 70 when turned in late
Portfolio Assignments are online – due dates are posted for the year (see assignment sheet)
