BCS Grading Reminder
Digital Literacy
Students in Digital Literacy will receive a pass/fail grade at the end of each semester. Please reach out if you have any questions about grading for our Digital Literacy course or the Digital Literacy curriculum.
General Grading Reminders
Families are always able to access Powerschool to see grades at any time. However, we do want to remind families that grades are not updated as soon as a student submits an assignments. Teachers need time to grade and input grades, which often cannot happen until a day or two after an assignment is submitted. Additionally, some assignments take a longer time to grade, especially if it is a writing assignment. We appreciate your partnership and support with this!
Contacting the BCS Office
Families are always welcome to call the BCS office if they have an update for a student. The number is 248-203-4444. We have one secretary who attends to the phones, works with students who are sick or need first aide, and welcomes visitors to the building. Obviously, she is very busy throughout the day with all of these duties. If you call the office and the phone is not answered, please leave a message. She checks the messages immediately upon return to her desk and will ensure that all messages are relayed to students. We appreciate your support and understanding with this!

This works out to approximately $3 a day. We are offering some great options and are excited for students to take advantage of them! Keep your eyes open for upcoming information.
Dismissal Reminders
Our school dismissal process is improving! We are grateful for the families who help us to ensure that we can make this process safe and efficient for everyone. However, it is important to remind everyone that PICKUP ALONG COVINGTON ROAD IS NOT PERMITTED. This creates a back up for families trying to enter our pick up loop and creates a back up for our exiting families when cars are stopped to pick up students. More importantly, it is VERY dangerous for students to run across Covington Road to get into cars going North on Covington. While there is a cross walk for students to cross who are walking home, we ask that all families please prioritize the safety of all students and not pick up along Covington Road.
Halloween Costume Guidelines
In the spirit of creating a safe and considerate Halloween environment for our elementary-age students, we request that costumes refrain from being overly frightening. Additionally, we must be mindful of avoiding any promotion of violent behavior that would be considered inappropriate on any other day.
Please adhere to the following costume guidelines:
All Halloween costumes at BCS must steer clear of violent themes. This means no blood, gore, or imitation weapons of any kind, including pirate swords and light sabers.
- Masks should not be excessively scary or represent violent characters.
- Culturally insensitive outfits are not allowed.
- Costumes should not make fun of real people, human traits, or any culture.
- Historical costumes should be accurate and void of misinformation.
- Ensure that costumes provide good visibility and allow for easy breathing.
It's worth noting that students can still don costumes like "army soldiers" or "pirates" without accompanying weapons. We aim for all students to enjoy the day without costume-related issues. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out!
Let's make this Halloween a memorable and respectful occasion for all our students. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
We will have an exciting kick-off event for our BCS House System on Oct. 31st. Students will learn which house they are in and engage in fun, team building events. Our events will take place in the following order:
- House events end at 10:00am
- Classes will be ready to begin our Halloween Parade at 10:25am
- Classes will take part in our parade and Halloween events from 10:25-11:15am
- Dismissal will be at 11:20am
