Summer Reading- all BHMS students have a Broomfield Library card!
Hello families! Thanks to the "Student 1" program, ALL students at BHMS have access to databases and book requests at the Broomfield Public Library. Student's library card number is their student number and their pin is their first name. Simply enter this info in the login page on the Broomfield Library website and students can check out books, request books to be held, and access online databases and homework help. This should also work in person at the library.
For more info on this program please see the following flyers in English and Spanish.
8th Grade Continuation
BHMS 8th Grade Continuation is scheduled for Thursday, May 23rd! We need parents/caregivers who are interested in working with BHMS staff to plan, coordinate, and run this event for our 8th grade students and families. In past years it has been great to have 7th and 6th grade parents sign up to help 8th grade parents make this a fun, successful event for the 8th grade students. Continuation typically includes a ceremony and short reception for students and families followed by a social for 8th grade students and Staff. Please sign up if you are interested in helping and someone will reach out to you soon. Thank you!

Summer Career Explorers Program
The Broomfield Workforce Center is hosting a Summer Career Explorers Program and the application process is open.
This is a special program geared towards incoming 8-11th grade students. We have a number of tours set up. This will give students first hand experience in what certain careers are truly like.
Broomfield area students are invited to apply. We would love to see more Broomfield Students in the program this Summer.
If you have any questions, please connect with Marci Machuga (mmachuga@broomfield.org). She is our Youth Program Manager and she is wonderful!
From the Health Room
Please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medication(s) on or before the last day of school. If it is not absolutely necessary for this medication to be at school until the last day of classes, then please pick up the medication as soon as possible.
Any medication not picked up by the end of the day on the last day of school will be disposed of.
If your student will need us to administer medication next year, please have your healthcare provider complete the Medication Administration Authorization Form. All medication orders must be renewed each new school year. The BVSD Medication Administration Authorization form can be found on the BVSD Health Services Site under Student Health Forms.

Mental Toughness: Transitioning can be hard
As the school year comes to a close, many students and their parents may be feeling tired and ready for a break. However, finishing the year strong requires mental toughness. Mental toughness isn’t just about overcoming challenges; it’s a mindset and skill set that can help students and parents navigate the final stretch of the school year. Here are three easy tips to help you finish the school year with mental toughness.
1. Set Realistic Goals: Encourage your student to set realistic goals for the remainder of the school year. Whether it’s completing a certain number of assignments or studying for a specific amount of time each day, setting achievable goals can help maintain focus and motivation.
2. Prioritize Self-Care: Emphasize the significance of self-care even during hectic schedules. Encourage finding small moments for self-care, such as deep breathing exercises or brief access to the outside, to recharge amidst a busy routine. For parents, setting an example of self-care and supporting their children in finding moments of respite is crucial, even in demanding circumstances.
3. Stay Positive: Emphasize the power of a positive mindset. Encourage your student to focus on their strengths and past successes to boost their confidence. As a parent, offer words of encouragement and praise to help your student stay positive and motivated.
By embracing these tips and recognizing that mental toughness is a choice, both students and parents can navigate the end of the school year with resilience and determination. Remember, mental toughness is a practice that can help everyone reach their ultimate potential, not only in sports but also in academics and everyday life.
