May 2024 Final Newsletter of the Year
End of the Year!
Thank you families for all your support during the year. We made excellent gains in both reading and math. The hard work and expectations both at school and home have paid off.
We wish you all well as you move into the summer months. I know I am hoping for some sunshine as camping season approaches.
If you have not registered yet for the 2024-2025 school year, please do so here:
Register your returning students NOW on Parent Connect.
https://www.asdk12.org/register
We have a competition to see which class can register the most students before summer and right now we have: Campbell and Wollrich in the lead with Weimann close behind!
Planning ahead: 2024-2025 school calendar is here for you! You can also find at: https://www.asdk12.org/cms/lib/AK02207157/Centricity/Domain/4/24-25_Accessible.pdf

NURSE NEWS
End of year reminders from the nurse.
If student’s have medications stored in the Nurse’s office, please stop in to pick them up the last week of school. Please remember medications cannot be sent home with students, they must be picked up by an adult. All controlled medications will be disposed of the last day of school.
Religious exemptions must be turned in the first day of classes next school year. They cannot be signed prior to July 1st. You can find the form on this link https://www.asdk12.org/Page/20063
For 5th and 6th graders going into middle school, a sports physical is required to participate. Get your students in early, fall sports start early and physician’s appointments can be hard to get. (*from experience)
Lastly, students who require Asthma or Allergy/Anaphylaxis Care Plans, please remember to get new orders filled out prior to school starting in the fall.
Have a wonderful summer,
Nurse Tyra
Super Sweepers!
Bear Valley participated in the City Wide Clean-Up on Saturday, May 4th. Thank you to all our families who helped out. It was a little colder than usual so we served hot chocolate. We approx. 55 students show up and help. We collected approximately 115 bags of trash. This makes a big difference in making our neighborhoods clean.
Thank You to the Girls Scout Troop 23082, Alex Schlegel, & Christy Ante for helping set up, handing out bags and gloves, and taking down on Saturday. Thank you Bear Valley PTA for generously supporting us. Once again, our PTA funded nine additional prizes, hot dogs, lemonade, hot chocolate, and snacks. A Big Thank you to all our Sponsors who help make this possible. And a big thank you to Mrs. Schlegel who makes this an amazing event for our school!
We were able to offer 10 prizes this year. Our Raffle prize winners are below.

Pick up and Drop off
Please Remember
With the snow...... Please remember do not pull forward until the drop off line has space. NO CARS should wait on the end of the island. The lane is not wide enough to pass especially with the snow. Our bus loop is closed each day from 8:35-9:10 (10:10 on Mondays). We have a later bus and this will help keep the bus loop clear.
Thank you!
Birthday Celebrations
To minimize distractions during the school day, we are asking that parents refrain from bringing in balloons and treats for birthdays. We have students with allergies and treats are not always appropriate. We do a special certificate, pencil and announcement from the office, as well as classroom recognition.
Bear Valley Personal Property Policy
