Your feedback requested...
The District-Level Planning and Decision-Making Committee (DLPDMC) is charged with developing a school calendar to recommend to the Board of Trustees for adoption. The 2021-2022 calendar development process began in October, and the DLPDMC is currently seeking input from families, employees, and the community regarding the current school calendar as well as the importance of certain calendar features. You are invited to complete the linked survey by Friday, November 13.
The DLPDMC will review the results at their November meeting and develop two or three draft calendars to post on the District’s website for feedback.
Counselor Update
The month of November starts the Colossal Cobra trait of Gratitude. Counselors will be going into homerooms and talking about Gratitude with your student. The guidance lessons will be the week of November 16 - 20.
Generation Texas Week will be the week of November 16-20. Join the fun and dress for the days as listed in the newsletter.
On November 13, Ms. Aymond, Mrs. McCure, Mr. Barnhart, and Mrs. LeBlanc will be meeting with students through PE classes to talk about Bullying Prevention and defining cyberbullying.
Important Reminder About Deliveries
Please ensure students leave home with all the items they will need for the day.
Deliveries to students including lunches are limited and on an emergency basis only.
Students forgetting lunches will be allowed to charge a meal in the cafeteria when necessary, however beginning October 1st, Conroe ISD has been offering 1 Free breakfast and lunch meal to ALL in person students. Meals will be at no cost through December pending funding availability from the United States Department of Agriculture. Parents who need to drop items off for a student can do so by ringing the bell at the front door and then a staff member will come to the door to retrieve the item. Please wear a face mask and sanitize before coming to the front door.
Assistant Principal Update
Parents,
Hello! Before I say anything else I want to thank everyone for helping us keep Collins safe. We have done a great job so far and trust me when I say it has been a collaborative effort for sure!
I can’t believe it but Thanksgiving is already here! I hope everyone is planning for a fun and relaxing Thanksgiving break, I know I am! However, I wouldn’t be doing my job if I did not ask everyone to please be as safe as possible when making their plans for the break.
What do I do if my child becomes sick during Thanksgiving break?
If your child contracts Covid 19 while we are out for Thanksgiving, please email Nurse Nell at nkendall@conroeisd.net. Nurse Nell will fill out the necessary paperwork and answer any questions you have. She will also let you know when your child can return to school.
Another issue that has popped up recently is our students throwing their masks on the ground when they leave Collins everyday. Mrs. McCure and I both walked the school last week and picked up a ton of masks. Please help us keep Collins clean by reminding our Cobras to hold on to their face mask until they get home.
Thank you!
Mr. Barnhart
Nurse Kendall Update
Please send your child to school WITH a mask on AND at least one extra mask in case the other gets soiled. This task is extremely important for the health and well-being of all of our students and staff.
HealthyChildren.org has an interesting article about mask-wear myths. Please check it out at:
Please remember to keep your child at home and call the school if he/she has been in close contact with a Covid positive person, or exhibits any symptoms (Fever, headache, body aches, vomiting/diarrhea, sore throat/congestion, loss of taste/smell, fatigue).
