Oak Ridge Students to Raise Funds for CA Wildfire Relief
The Oak Ridge School is pleased to announce an important and meaningful initiative that will involve the entire school community: a Coin Challenge Fundraiser to support those affected by the devastating California wildfires.
Fundraiser Details
What: School-wide Coin Challenge (Grade Level vs. Grade Level)
When: Tuesday, January 21st – Friday, January 31st
Why: To raise funds for families and communities impacted by the wildfires. All donations will benefit the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles.
As is typical during this Coin Challenge (sometimes referred to as a "penny war") students should bring in your pennies! They will put as many pennies as they can in their grade's jar. Every penny adds 1 point to the grade's total. However, that point total maye be sabotaged with silver coins or bills!
Add nickels, dimes, quarters, or even dollar bills to other grades’ jars.
These take points away from their total! Here's the point breakdown:
Nickel = -5 points
Dime = -10 points
Quarter = -25 points
Homerooms will work together with their grade to fill their jar with pennies and "attack" other grades with silver coins and bills.
This is an opportunity for our students to come together, show compassion, and make a difference!
