I hope this finds you all safe and healthy. I know this is a difficult and strange time for all of us. I'm certain you appreciate how all of our teachers have been reaching out to you and your children over the past two weeks. All of us love your children and we have been working diligently to get everything ready to start our Distance Learning. We will be giving more information to let you know exactly what we will be doing as this next week progresses.
I am just asking you to be patient with us. This is a new experience for all of us. We just want all of you to be well and at peace in this situation. Hopefully, many of you have been taking advantage of the food being provided by our wonderful MPS Child Nutrition workers and our bus drivers. We are blessed to have this resource being provided. If I can help in anyway possible, please email me at khunt@mcalester.k12.ok.us or call the school. We may not be in the building, but we can still get messages. If I cannot help you, I may be able to locate resources that can. I would certainly try to do whatever I could!
Most importantly as we begin our Distance Learning Plan, know we are doing everything we can to make it a workable situation for you and your children. Many of you have already joined Google Meets with your teachers. We will providing packets soon and we will all learn how to use SeeSaw. We will continue to stay in touch. Please know how much all of you are loved and appreciated. Stay well. I will send you more information tomorrow afternoon after I return home from OKC to take a chemo treatment. Working together we will overcome this national crisis together. I know from personal experience that McAlester has the best people in the world living here. Continue to practice social distancing, enjoy being with your families, and love those little angels you have with you. The most important thing we can all do is make certain that our children feel safe and loved. They are our primary concern and our most important responsibility. We are all in this together!! Praying for you all daily and I can never express how much your prayers have meant to me over the past months!! Give your little ones a hug and kiss from me!!
Sincerely and with much love,
Kathy Hunt, teachers, and staff
