Beginner Band Rehearsal May 2nd
There is a Beginner Band rehearsal that is REQUIRED for ALL students (except Hawk Select Band students) on Thursday, May 2 from 4:15-5:30pm. This is our only other chance to rehearse together before our performance at Epic Waters next week AND before our Spring Band concert.
GISD Beginner All-Star Band Clinic/Concert - May 4th
You can find the detailed information sheet about the day's events here.
This information was provided by the concert hosts about Saturday:
All students should come in from the side entrances (by our band trailer… you can’t miss it). Symphonic band will meet in the band hall and honors will meet on stage. Students can leave their instrument cases and belongings in our percussion room or in the auditorium seating area (of course we’ll move it all later before the concert), or in our ensemble/uniform rooms.
There is an election going on throughout the day, so the front may be a little congested at times, so for the concert, it may be best for parents to park in the back and come in through the back (labeled overflow on the map).
Beginner Band Epic Waters Spring Trip
The Beginner Band students on this list will be performing at the Epic Music Festival at Epic Waters in Grand Prairie. Their detailed itinerary can be found here. Please make sure students arrive at Hudson at 8:00am, so we can get situated and get on the road on time. They MUST bring a towel and they MUST wear their black band t-shirt for the performance. All students and chaperones attending the trip, MUST return a signed waiver from Epic Waters in order to enter the water park. The bus list will not change, but it is possible that the chaperone groups may change prior to Monday. We are excited to have a fun day and 2 great performances!

There is a REQUIRED sectional for saxophone, trombone, and trumpet students who wish to audition for the band on May 7th from 4:30-5:30pm. The sectional is where they will learn about improvisation, which will be part of their audition.
Auditions will take place on May 23rd and 24th before and after school, depending on which instrument the student plays. Please contact Mr. Neff with questions about jazz band auditions.
2024-2025 HMS Band Audition Results
We are still working to evaluate all students' auditions for the 24-25 HMS Bands. We plan to post those results as an update to this Smore on Friday, May 24th at 4:10pm. Thanks for your patience as we make very difficult decisions about the band placements. We have the most talented group of students we've had, with MANY of them doing WAY more than the minimum requirements for their auditions. We will have more details about results when we post them.

Exact times and details will be finalized in the next few weeks and will be sent out as soon as plans are solidified. The HMS Summer Camp is free of charge (except for the optional water park trip) and we expect students to attend if they are in town on those dates.
