60 SECONDS WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT
Four 5th grade students at Kinsner Elementary are looking to make their school an even better place. The group is advocating for bike racks, so that students can bike to school. Click HERE to see more about their presentation and the Model Mustang skills they are developing through this project.
RUNNING WITH THE MUSTANGS
‘Running with the Mustangs’ is a new video series to celebrate the “heartbeat of Strongsville City Schools.” This new series highlights students, staff, and programs that make SCS a special and unique place. SURRARRER 5TH GRADER JD PODOJIL TESTIFIES BEFORE OHIO SENATE INSURANCE COMMITTEE
Earlier this week JD Podojil, a 5th grader at Surrarrer, testified in front of the Ohio Senate Insurance Committee as a proponent for House Bill 152 (Madeline's Law). JD was selected to provide his first hand experience in support of this proposed bill to require health plan issuers to cover hearing aids and related services for persons 21 years of age and younger. You can watch JD’s testimony HERE (beginning around the 46 minute mark).
FIVE MUSIC STUDENTS REPRESENT SHS IN OMEA HONORS BAND
Congratulations to SHS band members Liam Darrah, Serena Matthei, Steven Renfro, Van Hocevar, and Sreehita Mudiraj for performing in the District 4 Ohio Music Education Association Honors Band on November 7th-9th at Cleveland State University!

MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MARYELLEN BLANKENSHIP, BUS DRIVER / SCS TRANSPORTATION
Mrs. Maryellen Blankenship has been a member of our Transportation Department for eight years. In addition to being a bus driver and interacting with students at all grade levels, Mrs. Blankenship has also been a Strongsville resident for 24 years.
“I love working with our District’s Transportation team! We have a great group of dedicated and professional drivers, aides, and office staff. The best part about my job is being able to interact with and encourage all of the children who are on my bus every day. I enjoy listening to their stories and I love their sense of humor!”

Order awesome Mustangs Gear from ‘The Derby’ at Strongsville High School! ‘The Derby’ is a student operated spirit shop located in the SHS cafeteria, providing job training opportunities for students to develop skills necessary for future success - including independence, workplace readiness, job training, communication, problem solving, and leadership!
Check out ‘The Derby’ for items to add to your Strongsville wardrobe - made by SHS students. Items can be personalized and orders can be placed if the item is not available. Items can also be delivered to individual schools or picked up at the high school. SHS students can shop and order at ‘The Derby’ during lunch periods (10:00am - 1:30pm). All proceeds are given back to the Life Skills Employment Readiness Program for continued vocational training. Online orders can be placed using the QR code below or by clicking HERE. POLARIS EXPLORER CLUB - REGISTER NOW
Attention local 4th, 5th and 6th graders! You’re invited to discover Polaris and explore careers through their 2nd Annual Explorer Club. This after-school adventure features fun, hands-on classes taught by their very own instructors. The next session will take place on December 3-4 & 10-11 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The program fee is $60, which includes two classes and all class materials. There is also an optional early drop-off at 4:00 p.m. each day featuring BONUS career exploration activities.
Classes promise to fill up quickly so interested students and families are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible at www.polaris.edu/explorerclub.

PTA REFLECTIONS CONTEST
The annual PTA Reflections contest is happening now. This year’s theme is “Accepting Imperfection” and students in grades PreK-12 can submit entries in a number of different categories - including Photography, Visual Arts, and Film Production. SIMB “BREAKFAST WITH SANTA” - SATURDAY, 11/30
Join Strongsville High School Music Students at the “North Pole” for a special Breakfast with Santa. On Saturday, November 30th from 9am-12pm, SHS will be transformed into a winter wonderland with a magical visit from Santa. SHS THEATRE DEPARTMENT FUNDRAISER FOR SPRING MUSICAL
The SHS Theatre Department is collaborating with Playhouse Square to sell a block of tickets for the upcoming tour of & Juliet on Sunday March 9, 2025 at 6:30pm. The jukebox musical stars SHS alum, Corey Mach, as Shakespeare. This fundraiser will go toward some of the expenses for SHS's spring musical. Purchasing tickets for the show at Playhouse Square is currently live and will remain open until 12/13/24. SHS FUNdraiser prices range from $32.50 - $107.50 and the SHS Theatre Department will receive $10 for every ticket sold. Monday Afternoon Book Discussion. Monday, November 25th / 2:30 p.m. The Monday Afternoon Book Discussion meets at 2:30 p.m. in the Library on the 4th Monday of each month. No registration is required. New members are always welcome. We welcome all adults interested in reading and discussing great books! Our next discussion title will be The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. Copies of the book will be available for check-out at the circulation desk.
Audio & Video Studio Orientation. Ages 11 & up. Monday, November 25th / 7:00 p.m. Have you ever thought about recording your own music, making a video, digitizing memories and more? The Strongsville Branch Library is home to both Audio and Video Recording studios that can help you do just that! You must go through an orientation to use the spaces. Patrons 11 & up can participate in the orientation and must turn in the User Agreement form at the branch for the orientation to count. Register online to attend the virtual session.
