What's Happening at Griffis

We can't wait to show you all the amazing things your students have to showcase at Open House. You are invited to visit your child's classroom and then join us for Pizza and Picasso in the Gym and Cafeteria! 4th Grade will be presenting their Texas Wax Musuem!

Pizza and dessert will be served in the cafeteria. Students' art work will be displayed in the gym.

Each homeroom class will have an item to be auctioned off. Their class project will displayed in the gym as a silent auction. Bidding will end at 6:45 and you do not have to be present to win. There will be raffle items in the gym also.

Pizza and raffle tickets can be purchased during Open House if you did not preorder.

Your child's attendance a school is important to us!

Students enrolled in prekindergarten or kindergarten are required to attend school and are subject to the compulsory attendance requirements as long as they remain enrolled. Attendance reports are sent through Skyward each Thursday. You will receive a phone call from the office when days need to be made up. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Colwell.

Griffis classes will be participating in weekly challenges for the month of March. We will begin our Highest Attendance Rate competition next week! Shookie Dodgeball will be played against staff members and special guests! It will be a FUN Time!

Districts across the state are required to attend 75,600 minutes of school during a calendar year. Due to the bad weather days earlier this month, March 10th will be a full day, not an early release. This will allow us to make up the necessary minutes and still have days off in April.

CMHS Theatre is excited to share this beautiful show with our community! Please join us for a special performance of “The Girl in the White Pinafore” in our brand new auditorium on Monday, March 6th at 7:15PM. Tickets are $5. See you there!

We are excited to announce that CMISD will have their third Elementary Track Meet this year for 2nd-4th grade. This event will be held on Friday, March 31st after school. Try outs for the events will be during your child's PE class. Students who are selected will be sent home with an invitation to participate in the Track Meet.

Students not in the building by the 8:00 A.M. bell are considered tardy. Please refer to our campus handbook regarding our tardy policy. If your child is tardy, please do not drop your child off. For their safety, your child should be signed in. Please come to the front to sign them in.

The Watch D.O.G.S. Program brings male role models such as dads, stepdads, grandpas, uncles, etc. into the school for the betterment of the school, the students, and the community!!

Each month, we will focus on a particular character trait. Mrs. Wygal will give daily announcements regarding that trait to help the students put it into action. Each month, teachers will be looking for positive referrals from their class that they feel has best demonstrated the monthly trait. The trait for the month of March is Forgiveness.
