A Note From the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please note these important safety reminders for morning drop-off.

DO NOT ENTER THE DRIVEWAY IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING, FOR ANY REASON, IF ANY BUSES ARE PRESENT. Please comply with this to help keep our students safe. You may park in the teacher lot or join the drop off line to the back door.
If your child arrives before 9:20, you MUST pull around to the back door entrance. Please do not drop your child off at the front door unless they are tardy.
If your child arrives after 9:20, you MUST park and walk your child to the front door. Ring the buzzer at the front door and sign them in on the clipboard in the vestibule.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping our mornings to run safely and smoothly!

Mr. Prez's Pic of the Week

Some of our third grade students were featured in the Weather Classroom segment on Fox 8 News on Wednesday morning! They helped meteorologist Alexis Walters with the 7 day forecast and participated in some experiments involving static electricity. They did a fantastic job representing Munson! 2nd Grade CogAT Testing - February 3-7

Parents of 2nd grade students,

The State of Ohio requires school districts to offer whole-grade testing to all students twice during their education to identify gifted learners. As part of this process, all 2nd grade students will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) from February 3-7, 2025. The CogAT assesses overall cognitive and reasoning abilities and can identify students who meet the qualifying score as gifted in superior cognitive ability. Based on the results, some students may undergo additional evaluation for possible gifted identification in creative thinking ability. After testing, individual student CogAT results will be sent home with students. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this assessment, please feel free to contact Linda Elegante or Megan Kinney at megan.kinney@chardonschools.org.

Random Act of Kindness Spirit Week - Feb. 10-13

Munson, Park, and CELC are having a RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS Spirit Week from February 10-13! Join us in making Munson an even kinder place!!

Monday 2/10 - Kick it into gear and help somebody near! Wear mismatched/silly socks!

Tuesday 2/11 - Let your kindness shine! Wear bright colors/sparkles/neon!

Wednesday 2/12 - Powered by kindness! Wear superhero attire!

Thursday 2/13 - Spread the love! Wear red, pink, and white!

Food Drive - February 12

To go along with our Random Act of Kindness Week, we will be collecting nonperishable food items (with a "best by" date AFTER August 2025) on Wednesday, February 12! Clinic Corner

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Please be sure to call the office whenever your child is absent! We do our best to monitor the spread of illnesses at school, and knowing who is ill (and with what) helps us out tremendously. We have a 24-hour attendance voicemail that you can call at your convenience. The number is 440-286-5901. Thank you for your help with this!

Additionally, we have had a lot of students needing to borrow clothes due to messes at lunch and recess. We STRONGLY recommend packing an extra set of clothes in your child's backpack! This can stay in their bag all year in case of an emergency. We just don't have enough extra clothing for everyone! If your child does need to borrow clothing items, please wash and return them to school as soon as possible. Thank you so much!

Topper Tickets

Topper Tickets are given to students as a special recognition when they demonstrate a Topper Trait - Taking Responsibility, Offering Kindness, and Persevering. Each day, we randomly select a few Topper Ticket winners from each grade level to receive a prize! Check the newsletter each week for their names!

Chardon Family Connection Nights!

Are you looking for ways to grow together as a family? Join us at Chardon Middle School for a multi-part series of activities to foster connection and build confidence within your family. Arts and crafts supplies and a light snack will be provided! Your family is welcome to attend one night or multiple sessions. We are limited to 30 families per event, so don't wait to sign up! Donut With a Grownup!

Join the PTO for Donut with a Grownup! Students and ONE adult are welcome to enjoy donuts with their grade level from 8:30-9:10am in the gym.
1st grade: February 4

3rd grade: February 25

Valentine's Day Celebrations

Valentine's Day celebrations will take place in classrooms on Thursday, February 13. Each class will enjoy a snack and drink while they exchange Valentines with their classmates. Since this is a simple celebration, no parent volunteers are needed. Teachers will communicate details about classroom Valentine card exchanges.

Special Guy & I Dance - February 15! Sign Up Here!

All Munson girls and a special guy (dad, stepdad, grandpa, uncle, etc.) are invited to the PTO's Special Guy & I dance on Saturday, February 15 from 6:30-8:30pm at Veteran's Legacy Woods. Cost is $20 per couple, and $10 for each additional girl. You can also order a corsage for $5 when you purchase tickets!

Mother & Son Nerf Wars - March 1! Sign Up Here!

Join the PTO for Mother & Son Nerf Wars at Emeth Gym on Saturday, March 1 from 4-5:30pm! We'll have Nerf battles, games, open gym, pizza and drinks! Cost is $30 per mom/son couple, and $15 for each additional son. *You must bring your own Nerf gun and bullets.*
