SCHOOL YEAR 24-25📓
May 13, 2025
Principal's Message 💬
Hello LMS families,
MCAP Math Testing begins this week for Grade 6 and 7 students. Please be sure that your child has their computer charged and gets ample sleep each night to be prepared for the assessment. Students have worked hard all year to prepare for the assessment, and we want to set them up for success when taking MCAP.
Thank you,
Ryan Warfel
Principal
🚨🚨 Staff Spotlight🚨🚨
This week, we’re thrilled to highlight Ms. Bayer, a passionate and energetic member of our Lansdowne Middle School community who brings history to life in her 8th grade classroom!
From an early age, Ms. Bayer knew she was meant to be a teacher. Inspired by her own 8th grade social studies teacher who made learning fun and engaging, she discovered a deep love for history—and an even deeper passion for sharing that love with others. At LMS, she finds joy in building meaningful relationships with both students and staff. Watching students grow, mature, and pursue their passions year after year is one of her favorite parts of the job. She also values working alongside a team of dedicated colleagues who truly look out for one another.
A standout moment in Ms. Bayer’s career is when former students return to visit. Whether they’re thriving in their high school history classes or sharing personal milestones like making the sports teams they once dreamed about, these moments remind her why she became a teacher—to help students build the skills they need to succeed beyond the classroom.
Outside of school, Ms. Bayer is always on the move! She plays in intramural volleyball, kickball, and softball leagues, and is currently training for her second half marathon. A devoted Orioles fan, you’ll often find her at Camden Yards cheering on her favorite team. She also enjoys reading fiction, history, and philosophy, and recently explored historical sites in Greece over spring break.
Her favorite book, Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, has shaped the way she views life’s purpose and the meaning behind each moment.
If she could choose a superpower, time travel would top her list—both to experience history firsthand and to have unlimited time to create the most engaging and enriching lessons possible for her students.
Thank you, Ms. Bayer, for your dedication, enthusiasm, and the lasting impact you make at Lansdowne Middle School every day!

Resources for Families Regarding Immigration
We are committed to to fostering safe and inclusive learning environments where all students thrive—
The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has identified several resources that may support you:
- Parents/guardians can identify a “standby guardian” to care for their child if they are detained or deported, by completing this Maryland Judiciary form and providing a copy to schools, health care providers, and family members.
- Families trying to locate someone who has already been detained, may use the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainee locator.
- Legal assistance is available from a variety of sources, including immigration lawyers in private practice, accredited representatives (non-attorneys who assist individuals in immigration proceedings), and legal-aid organizations:
The People’s Law Library of Maryland Immigration Advocates Network
- Several immigration organizations have provided guidance related to preparing for and/or responding to immigration action.
