January 22, 2025
Congratulations Waikiki School - 1st Place at the School Shoots Summit
We are thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievement of Waikiki School students Apsley Goddard, Iloha Malama, Elle Silver, Enju Reder, and Oliver Lam, who took 1st place in the Public Service Announcement Elementary School category! Their outstanding video on the theme "Address the Stress" was a powerful and creative showcase of their talent and teamwork.
A special mahalo to their dedicated teacher advisor, Mr. Jason Marvel, for his guidance and support throughout the project. Special thanks also goes out to Minoru Malama for his support.
Your Waikiki School 'ohana is so proud of you!
The video can be seen starting from the 1:07:55 to the 1:09:33 mark.

PTO Astronomy Night! Friday January 24th, 5:30pm – 8:00pm
Come join us to view the stars and a rare planetary parade with the help of ultra-powerful telescopes from our friends at Stargazers of Hawaii. Four planets will be visible on January 24 - Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, as well as several bright stars, double stars, star clusters and the Orion Nebula. Aside from this unique opportunity to view celestial bodies in powerful magnification, we will start out with a professional stargazing presentation, and offer several other astronomy-related activities and short documentary films. The telescope viewing and presentations will take place on Leahi Field, so folks are welcome to bring blankets, chairs, and a picnic dinner.
To ensure we have enough telescopes to go around, please RSVP to express your interest. The event is free for all Waikiki School students and their families, and those who wish to do so may donate here to help offset some of the cost of our telescope vendor.
Mahalo HPD District 6 Community Police Team for organizing our sign waving campaign to bring awareness to pedestrian safety and safe driving! Please remember to use cell phones hands-free when dropping off and picking up your children for the safety of everyone.
Geographic Exception Requests Now Being Accepted
Under Hawaii laws, all persons attending public school are required to attend the school in the geographic area in which they reside. However, permission to attend another school may be granted by the Department.
For families looking for an exception, fill out the GE Application form, MV1 form, and submit to the home school (for new students) along with a self-addressed stamped envelope and a current proof of residency. (The home school serves the geographic area of the child's residence.) If your family has moved and are no longer in the school boundaries, you will have to fill out a GE application. GE applications for the next school year shall be submitted between January 1 and March 1 to facilitate a decision before the end of the school year.
Printed forms are also available in the school office.
