Announcing Buckman's New Principal

Dear staff and families,

I am pleased to announce that Lisa Ditto will be the new principal of Buckman Arts Focused Elementary School.

Lisa is well known to the Buckman community, having served as the school’s assistant principal for the past three years. As AP, she has focused on empowering educators, students, and families to work collaboratively towards common goals. She is deeply committed to the success of every student through robust academic instruction and learning within the context of Buckman’s integrated arts program.

Prior to coming to Buckman, Lisa served as a Teacher on Special Assignment for PPS, focusing on multi-tiered systems of support. In her capacity as a TOSA, she actively engaged building staff in centering and embedding social-emotional learning (SEL), racial equity and social justice principles in all aspects of her coaching, team supports, and professional development. Her experience also includes working as a PPS K-5 literacy coach and as a second- and fifth-grade classroom teacher at Astor School.

Lisa received her B.A. in sociology/social work from George Fox University and her Master of Arts in Teaching, her principal licensure, and her Doctorate of Education in School Development and Leadership from the University of Portland.
