A MESSAGE FROM DR. JUDY CRATES
Your Child’s Registration for Next Year is Due this Friday!!
Dear Castro Parents,
I need the help of EVERY parent at Castro. We are in the “Open Enrollment” period when parents must go online to register your child for next year. There are no exceptions. Currently there are only 14 Castro families who registered for next year!
Here are ways to register because using your phone to do may be very challenging:
Directions were emailed to you previously.
Use your child’s chromebook to register. Every student at Castro has a laptop.
Ask your older children to help you. 4th and 5th graders, middle and high school students can provide lots of help. They often know more than we do.
Ask another parent for help.
Log in to your PowerSchool account.
You must have your username (usually your email address unless you changed it) and password.
Due to COVID restrictions and staff availability, we are not able to support you at the level of the past. Hopefully after 2 years of online work, you feel more comfortable.
PLEASE don’t wait until the last day. Following up with you takes time, energy and money that is much better spent on our students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Judy Crates
Administrator on Special Assignment at Castro

Help MVEF reach their fundraising goals
With your help, MVEF knows we can reach our goal to raise $800,000 again in 2021-22. But what if we can do more? If we can exceed our fundraising goal by $300,000 this year, we will be able to enhance learning for all middle school students by funding one additional English language arts teacher for each middle school next year and reduce class sizes. Please donate to MVEF to help us reach our annual $800,000 fundraising goal and raise an additional $300,000 to fund two ELA teachers to reduce class sizes at the middle schools in 2022-23. mvef.org/donate

Yet, there are implicit and unconscious biases that get in the way of our best selves, and intentions aren't enough to guide our behaviors. We welcome Rosetta Lee, teacher and outreach specialist, who talks about the science of cognitive biases we all have and what we can do to mitigate them within ourselves and our organizations.
