National School Psychology Week
November 11–15, 2024 is National School Psychology Week! This is an annual opportunity to recognize school psychologists’ work in school districts across the country.
School psychologists are members of the school team that support students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. They provide direct support and interventions to students, such as learning assessments, academic and behavioral interventions, counseling, and social skills training. School psychologists also consult with families, teachers, and other educators to improve school-wide practices and policies.
CHPS is very grateful to our in-house school psychologist, Angela Jacobson, for her dedicated work with our Hylanders since 2011! We are also grateful to our virtual school psychologists who have joined the CHPS team this year, Veronica Gorgueiro and Anthony Brazill.
National Community Education Day
November 14, 2024 is National Community Education Day! This day is a great opportunity to highlight the Community Education Programs that are available at CHPS!
Community Education offers opportunities for everyone—children, teens, adults, and seniors—to engage in learning, enrichment, and personal growth. From after-school programs and ECFE, to adult enrichment classes, we believe there is something for everyone in our community.
At Columbia Heights Public Schools, we are proud to be part of this national effort to promote education beyond the classroom. We encourage you to take advantage of the many opportunities we offer, and we welcome you to learn more about our programs and services by visiting colheights.k12.mn.us/communityed
